Wellington Vintage Fair 2th Feb - 1st March 2015. Jon Mancer

Some of the Golden Oldies Trucks made the pilgrimage to the Annual Wellington Vintage Fair. The parade

through the main street of Wellington on the Saturday was well supported, as the parade was originally to be

cancelled. There was a huge rollup of Morris Minors in the parade, as well as other cars, tractors, motor bikes

and of course the Golden Oldies trucks. Even "Sooty" the traction engine did a lap of the main drag!

I did not know what to expect on the Sunday, the weather was great and the variety of cars on display good.

The swap meet always has a bargain for someone and there was plenty of good stuff for those that were after that

specific item.

We have had an enquiry from a Lightning Ridge resident re rego of a truck, currently registered in QLD, He

wants to apply to our Club for membership, and then registration for his vehicle. We will send him an

application form.

Larry, Graham, Warwick & Brian attended the Maitland show. The numbers were very down on previous year's

attendance. Although they enjoyed themselves, they thought it was a generally disappointing result.

Brian Little attended the White Muster at Kyabram. His general comment on this show – “It is getting better &

better each year!”

February edition of TRUCKIN‟ LIFE featured a very colourful feature on the Golden Oldies Truck Show held

Coonabarabran Show. 14th March 2015

Nathan & myself attended the Coonabarabran Annual Show and took the Dodgey Inter for a run. We parked up

with the CARS club at Coona for the Vehicle display. The vehicles were mostly local and was a great weekend

catching up with friends and family from my home town. Below is a summary of the vehicles on display. The

The HVCCVC held its 5th Truck Muster at Maitland Showground on 14th & 15th March 2015. Several of our club members attended the two day event & were treated to kind weather for both days. Larry Briggs and Graham Barker travelled across on Friday afternoon. Warwick Sheil left in the middle of the night & arrived early on Saturday morning. Peter Smith arrived on Saturday morning with his orange Inter tow truck. I strolled in on Saturday morning to be greeted by an impressive line up of trucks, buses and small utes. The numbers were down a bit on the last show, but the quality was there. An impressive display of photos was on hand which had a constant audience along with a large attendance of both diecast and plastic models in both pavilions. I had prior commitments to attend to as our daughter lives not far from Maitland and these commitments did not allow me to return to the showground on Sunday, but the time that I spent there was worthwhile. fosel.

The White Muster 21st & 22nd March 2015 at Kyabram. I set off from Dubbo on Friday morning 20th March & proceeded to Kyabram, thinking that this was going to be a great weekend, was I wrong! Not much went wrong but what went wrong turned out to be not good. I arrived late afternoon, took a wrong turn and ended up at Shepparton. That wasn't bad because I followed my bloke instinct and eventually ended upon the right road to Kyabram after being abused. I think it was the NSW number plates brought that on. I'm sure it wasn't because I darted across 3 lanes of traffic to make a right hand turn at the last possible moment! Anyway I got to Kyabram and tried to go in the wrong gate which was soon pointed out to me, I think it must have been the NSW number plates again. Once inside the showground I met up with Ray Grima and he told me where to go and get set up, the only pleasant Victorian that I found that day. I now know how to drive Victorian style! During my attempt at cooking a feed Ray came along and told me that the HCVC were cooking a BBQ and to come over, so I did, had a yarn and a few cold beverages. It was lucky that I put in a jumper as the weather turned rather cold, which was a bit of a shock coming from a daytime temperature of the high 30's for several months to what felt like 2 degrees in a matter of hours. When the cold eventually got to me I made my excuses and retired to the canvas motel for the night. Cold beer, a warm swag and worn-out kidneys don't make for continuous rest. At about 2am, on a nature call, I happened to be talking to the security people on the showground when Rob Zavonne rolled in which entailed a quick conversation of a few minutes then back to bed. After 14 hours on the road Rob was keen to put his head down. Saturday morning rolled around too quickly and a hurried setup of my scale models along with a couple of other blokes models and I was off to take some more photos. What a good gathering of Whites and other brands. After a couple of hours a panicked phone call was received informing me that some of the models were suffering sun damage. When I arrived back I found that several of the plastic scale models had deformed due to the heat inside the cabinet. It wasn't only my models that were damaged but several models that belonged to the other 2 modellers. These plastic models can take up to 400 hours to build and cost many hundreds of dollars to get the end result. The models that were on display were to be entered into a competition at Nagambie on the Sunday so the mood in the camp was not good, I thought that I was going to be to be strung up from the nearest tree. Unfortunately there was nothing that any of us could do about the situation as the problem was not foreseen nor allowed for, it is one that we have learnt from, costly as it was. Needless to say the mini White muster came to an abrupt end for 2015, through no fault of our own, but I'll be back next time with a different plan. By the way the White Muster was an excellent weekend and if you missed it then you missed a good weekend of Whites. It was good to see Geoff Rudd and Brian Green make the pilgrimage to Kyabram. Several times I went to speak with Brian Green but there was always somebody talking to him, I don't think he drew breath all weekend. PS. This is not a whinge about a weekend away it's just an insight into how things go wrong. I still enjoyed the weekend. fosel.

Haulin' the Hume April 2015.

Jon & Nathan Mancer took the Dodgey Inter on the Haulin the Hume run in April. The biannual run consists of

approximately 300 historic commercial vehicles driving down the old parts of the Hume Highway from the Clarendon

Showground to Yass.

It was an early morning start at Clarendon with vehicles leaving from approximately 7.00am. We joined in with a convoy

of old jiggers and headed off around 7.15am. Out along the Old Northern Road, through the "hole in the wall" at Picton and

into the Goulburn Showground for lunch and a mini truck show. This stop allowed us to catch up with heaps of mates and

take plenty of pictures. After lunch we were on our way again to Yass.

The trip took us through "Razorback", the Cullerin Range and along a privately owned piece of the Old Hume Highway,

which is now disused. It was unnerving in places trying to imagine fully laden trucks battling with the highway to get the

various goods through. The winding roads and climbing hills put the old trucks to the test. Plenty of spectators lined the

edge of the highway, even some of the die hards ignored the weather, in places, and stood in the rain to get that perfect

photo shot! As we later found out hundreds of photos and videos of the run have been posted on Facebook!!!!

As we pulled into Yass we stopped at our motel and checked in. Dropped off the trailer, had a quick bit to eat and a

shower and then down to the Memorial Hall for dinner. The dinner was great and plenty of stories were told. The

entertainment for the night consisted of an impromptu interview with Sonny Warby and the recital of a well written poem.

A silent auction was held and an inaugural presentation was made to one of our members, Geoff Rudd. Well done Geoff!

Sunday morning rolled around and we were off again just to pull up outside the old BP Servo in Gasoline Alley. Hundreds

of trucks lined the street outside the old servo. What a step back in time. A few Cummins idling away, while a GM screams

off through the gears. A presentation of various informal awards were given out and then final goodbyes said, until we

stopped at the truck stop.

The Golden Oldies were well represented on the run and I apologise for anyone I have not mentioned. Peter Smith,
