know about the fire.

Early Morning
The fire starts at a bakery on Pudding lane.

Evening
People use leather buckets filled with water from the Thames to
try and stop the fire.

I have been told to blow
up houses to stop the
fire spreading… I hope
it will work!
Monday 3rd September
People carry their possessionsto safety using boats on the
River Thames.
The fire spreads very close to the Tower of London.
Tuesday 4th September
St Paul’s Cathedral is destroyed
by the fire.
Wednesday 5th SeptemberThe fire starts to burn more slowly as the wind dies
down.
Thursday 6th September
Early morning.
The very last fire is extinguished.
• More than 13000 houses were destroyed!
• The fire burnt for 5 days!
• Christopher Wren developed the plans for the restoration of the city.
• We only know what happened because of the diary kept by Samuel Pepys
