Grandparent’s Day is certainly one of the highlights of the school calendar and this year was no excep on where on a chilly, rainy, winter’s day our school hall was packed with Grandparents and Special Friends to celebrate this auspicious occasion. Those in a endance were treated to a variety of entertainment by the K/2 students in addi on to performances by the Jazz Band and the Training Band. The comperes and individual presenters did their school and family proud with very accomplished performances. At the conclusion of the event guests were treated to a scrump ous morning tea prepared by the Gordon West FRASC. Grandparents also had the opportunity of visi ng their grandchildren’s classrooms before returning to the COLA to be entertained brilliantly by our Training Band. A big thank you to Mrs Harvey and Mrs Hayward and their Stage teachers who were

responsible for the organisa on of the event and to Mrs Jull and her team for organising the morning tea. Grandparents and Special Guests were treated to wonderful performances by both the Jazz Band and Training Band. The huge difference in ability between the two bands was aptly demonstrated with visitors shown the improvement in skill levels when children are in the band program for a number of years. the exis ng COLA will be concreted. The Gordon West Building Commi ee had applied to have this area and the area under the COLA asphalted. However because of sinkage problems experienced in Stage 1 that was completed last holidays, the AMU has decided to use the more expensive op on of concrete for Stage 2 work and not asphalt the area under the COLA un l a later date. In Stage 1 considerable addi onal costs were incurred because of sinkage. The contractor will forward the Gordon West Building Commi ee the limited colour op ons available for concre ng. At the conclusion of the work new games will be drawn on the finished surfaces. A student commi ee supervised by Ms Fitness is examining op ons available in rela on to the games to be chosen. A big thank you to all parents who are adhering to the Gordon West Uniform Policy as determined by the parents of Gordon West. To those very few families who at this stage are not

adhering to this policy we look forward to your future support. All stakeholders have a role in making Gordon West a

great school and if the School Community determines a

Uniform policy then the expecta on is that everyone

will conform to this policy.

Gordon West is a very busy school with many a er

school ac vi es in opera on. However with the

excep on of the bus supervision there is no official

teacher supervision once school is finished at 3:10pm.

The expecta on is that children will immediately leave

the school grounds if not under the direct supervision

of their parents or carers.

Thank you for your co‐opera on.
