DESCRIPTION

Unique within Australian higher education, the multidisciplinary structure of the School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Management(GPEM) at the University of Queensland combines teaching and research coupling natural and built environments. With an integrated, interdisciplinary approach, GPEM helps educate tomorrow’s leaders facing important environmental issues such as climate change, urbanisation and sustainable development. Our mission is to To understand the processes, structures, and interfaces of natural and human systems and to use this knowledge to create and inform the next generation of knowledge leaders and to help shape policy, planning and management to enhance sustainability.

IBIS World reports the Australian Environmental Science Services industry is forecast to maintain solid revenue growth of 4% per annum over the five years through 2016-17, exceeding the projected pace of GDP growth of 3.4% per annum and reflecting the combined impact of increased government funding for weather and climate-related research, ongoing growth in demand for mineral testing and further growth in environmental markets.

An online academic integrity tool developed by GPEM staff has been internationally recognised. Almost 100 international institutes have requested access, and it has been completed by more than 30,000 students.
