Graduate Certificate in Applied Bioinformatics

The Graduate Certificate in Applied Bioinformatics, developed by Penn State’s Eberly College of Science, offers you the opportunity to advance your knowledge and learn from leading researchers in this cutting-edge field. The program was designed in collaboration with the University’s top-ranked Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences.

This 11-credit certificate is for professionals who need to use these technologies to understand and integrate biological and genetic data so they can make informed recommendations regarding gene-based drug discovery and development.

“Bioinformatics has fundamentally altered the field of biology, and now demands that life scientists become familiar with computational and statistical concepts that very few have been trained in. Penn State’s program goes beyond theory to cover major application domains of high throughput sequencing: SNP calling, ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, and de-novo assembly, while providing the necessary background knowledge in biology, statistics, and computational approaches.”

—Dr. Istvan Albert Associate Professor of Bioinformatics
