GRAPHICSAs you lay out your event planning checklist, give some serious thought to how you will use visuals by answering these questions:

❶ How can signage support the achievement of your business and marketing goals? Is your organization’s identity carried across everything you use?

❷ Are there areas of your event space that you’d like hidden from view? Are there windows, stairways or unsightly walls that should be covered?

❸ Will your attendees need to be directed to specific areas within the space? Do you want to attract attention and lure them to certain areas?

❹ Do you need to recognize your sponsors? Do you have their logo and graphic usage guidelines?

❺ Are you looking for a way to make your space come alive…to establish an ambience that draws your attendees into its mood…to create an impressive décor?

❻ Do you have someone knowledgeable about the technical aspects of displaying signs and coordinating them with your lighting and staging?

If you think outside the box, you'll discover that custom graphics offer endless ways to increase the visual as well as the functional appeal of your event.

Branding is an effective marketing strategy. It’s also a way of communicating with your target audience in a memorable and exciting way. Use your logo often and effectively, repeat it on your stage backdrop, and place it on the lectern, welcome signs and entryways.

Remember that any room can be transformed. Take a look to see how large banners hid the bleachers’ stairs, helping to transform a gymnasium into a dining space. Think twice when you think that your space isn’t attractive enough to host your event.

GRAPHICSCustom digital printing can range from single color to full color photo-realistic. It is an ideal, cost-effective way to create a big visual impact. With a wide range of materials and hundreds of different uses, graphics are an excellent and affordable way to promote your event, your organization and your mission.

Here are some important tips to follow when thinking about your event graphics:

❶ Integration. Printed graphics are only effective if they’re displayed correctly and lit appropriately. Don’t just assume you can hang a banner anywhere.

❷ Consistency. Your messages, images, colors and materials should be consistent for an overall look.

❸ Size of space. Signs should fit into your layout smoothly, neither dominating the event layout nor become lost within the space

❹ Lighting. If they can’t see it, they can’t read it. Make sure that the lighting is adequate and without glare or reflection.

❺ Font and color. A sign’s wording and color should fit your organization’s image. And it must precisely represent other organizations that you’re acknowledging. There is a Pantone color system that describes color with universally understood color matches – make sure you get it right.

❻ Materials. Yes, graphics can be printed on vinyl and poster board…but they can also go on many other materials including walls, floors and windows. Consider the finish: matte or gloss? Think about reusing it. Fit the material to the space, the tone of the event and your future needs.

❼ Placement. Location. Location. Location. View your signs for various vantage points to evaluate their positions. Signs and banners need to be placed where people are most likely to see them, but be careful that they don’t distract people from your primary focal point. Place your graphics in locations where people are forced to stop, thereby increasing the likelihood of their impact.
