Greater Dandenong Chamber of CommercePresident’s Report
Our 2016-2017 year has been one of consolidation and growth.
Following Amanda’s decision to reduce her hours and focus on Event Management and Marketing, we welcomed Tiffany Murray to the position of Executive Officer in September 2016. Tiffany and Amanda work exceptionally well together and have achieved outstanding results through the year.
With Tiffany focusing on the Chamber’s membership, we have had a significant growth in membership following redefined categories with many new inclusions and the introduction of a new Bronze Membership Level, catering for micro and retail businesses.
The increased interest in the Chamber has ensured events have been well supported with the Grand Final Charity Lunch once again ‘sold out’, due to the passion and dedication from Roy Sanderson, who once again spear-headed this event. This event donated a record amount to two very worthy charities.
Providing networking opportunities is a key function of the Chamber and our regular Platinum Partner evenings are becoming more and more popular. These informal events provide excellent opportunities for networking at no cost for members. Attendees are commenting on the positive atmosphere at these events and we look forward to watching them evolve even further in the next twelve months.
The Greater Dandeong Chamber Business Awards program continued to build on the success of last year with four business breakfast events, with the November Gala night providing a fitting finale. Moving away from the traditional dinner format, the networking award presentation night was fun and vibrant, and a big congratulations to all the winners from that night.
The Executive Committee engaged in a strategic review of the Chamber during the year and established a new Directions Document. This has clarified Chamber objectives and established priorities. Our purpose statement is
“to coordinate, develop and facilitate opportunities for regional businesses to work together, thrive and contribute to the local community”
I look forward to working with our Executive Committee and Chamber staff over the next twelve months to continue to implment this document. We also welcomed Jayson Perinayegon from RJ Sanderson to the Executive Committee - welcome Jayson.
The Chamber is in a strong financial position and we appreciate the contribution from our Treasurer Caroline Atonio of Ashfords. I would also like to thank the past efforts of our former Treasurers and Executive Committees for establishing our position.
I thank all members for their ongoing support of the Chamber. Platinum Partners, Gold Members, Chamber Awards Sponsors and Grand Final Charity Lunch sponsors make a huge contribution to our success and their support is greatly appreciated. I am also very grateful to Vice Presidents Peter Helmore and Roy Sanderson for their sound advice and

Grand Final Charity LunchWednesday 28 September 2016
We hosted yet another sell out event, over 200 guests at the annual Grand Final Charity Lunch on Wednesday 28 September at the Sandhurst Club. This year’s speaker was former West Coast and Carlton superstar Chris Judd, who entertained the crowd with some funny stories from his playing days, as well as a few observations on his post-playing life.
We were also joined by John Shore, Director of Ray White Chelsea, who was our fantastic MC and Auctioneer for the day. John was very busy drumming up bids for our auction items, with all proceeds going to the Make A Wish Foundation and the Caroline Chisholm Education Foundation. Another highlight of the event was John’s annual “Nothing” raffle, which is always highly entertaining while raising lots of money.
A very big thank you to all those who attended, and to all the businesses that donated items for the Silent Auction. We raised a record-breaking $12,000 at this year’s event.

supportive attitude of me in this role.
Again, we extend a special thanks to Todd Hartley and Hilton Manufacturing for accommodating the growing Chamber staff and providing us with two offices now. The Chamber also recognises the generous support of the City of Greater Dandenong.
We are very excited about the next twelve months - we have had a highly successful year, and I look forward to building on that success and growth.

Greater Dandenong Chamber Business Awards Breakfasts
The Greater Dandenong Chamber Business Awards were born out of the final Premier Regional Business Awards event. Businesses were be able to self-nominate or nominate a fellow business in various categories. The winners from each of these categories will then be considered for the overall Greater Dandenong Chamber Business Award.
