The ten- nis courts look great with a recent cleaning headed up by Roger Hunt, and Mike Youshock and Cristal OCon- nor have lined out a pickleball court. Many of us are out walking, canoeing or biking regularly and meeting new friends. At our parks, marina and other public spaces we continue to observe social distancing. Whats next? We still strongly encourage everyone to follow the guidance of our government and medical leadership that will keep us all safe. All events are can- celed and the clubhouse closed until June 10th. The pool opening plans are fluid but we are determined to open as early as health and safety allow. Fingers are crossed that we can hold some form of July Fourth event! Your board and neighbors are here for you. Our board met last week via Zoom, the work continues. President’s Corner Board Meeting Minutes

The April 16, 2020 Board meeting was called to order by President Terry Walker at 7:00 pm. The meeting was held via dial in or video link due to the Corona Vi-rus rules and safety precautions. Other board members present were: Brian Day (VP), Brian O’Day (Treasurer), Denise Thomas (secretary), Meagan Schultz (Business Manager), members-at-large Kathy Colburn, Becky Loving, Brett Major, Liz Robbins, and Troy Tuckey. Welcoming. Pat visited 2 new families and has left two messages. Tennis courts (Roger Hunt) – Roger thanked Christal O’Conner and Mike Youshock for cleaning and paint-ing the Pickleball court! The electric company that pre-viously worked on the lights will be checking to see what needs to be done to keep them working. The resur-facing product that was laid down before is coming up. Roger is researching products to fill cracks or resurface again. The backboard needs lots of work, probably re-placing, more to follow on that. Clubhouse. The clubhouse remains closed through June 10th. Park. Nothing new to report. Marina. Andrew has been making daily visits to the marina and sees that people are doing the right thing. Challenge will be what happens when the weather warms up. He will turn on the water. There is no volun-teer day scheduled yet.

Old Business: COVID 19 Challenges. Thanks to whomever put the colorful signs up at the entrances! A board member be-lieves it was Kerry Armbruster’s idea and that she had a group of kids help. The tape closing off the playground and equipment has been torn and equipment used. Terry will find other ways to cordon off and make it more difficult to use. The association did apply for the PPP loan. Hope to re-ceive $6,000. This will be used to offset some payroll items. Thank you to Meagan and Brian O’Day for the quick turnaround to get the application in. Financial impact of COVID-19 restrictions - Brian O’Day reported that the Association is in good shape even if projected incomes and pool income is zeroed out-we have enough in checking to pay operating expenses through the fiscal year. Principal payments on the loan will continue to come from Capital expenditures. Brian made a motion that any capital expenditures above $500.00 not already spent come back to the Board for approval. The motion was seconded by Bobby Jankovic. After some discussion, President Terry Walk-er called for a vote. The motion was approved. Directory. The directory is ready to go to the printer, but none are open to continue process. Easter Egg Hunt – Kathy reported that 55 children signed up for delivery and they had fun personally de-livering the eggs. Upcoming Events - Memorial Day Picnic – Cancelled. July 4 - we’ll wait and see.

Welcoming Committee

The Greater First Colony family welcomes Jeffery and Winnie Berry to 101 Lawnes Circle. Jeff retired as a Hampton fire fighter and Winnie is an independent contractor for General Dynamics. They share their home with Quinn (golden doodle) and Luna (cat). They are very thankful to their gracious and thought-ful neighbors on Lawnes Circle. Our new neighbor, Gary Tortomas, has moved into 102 Bermuda Circle from Glen Cove, Long Island, New York. He is a retired truck driver who was at-tracted to our near by bike path and the James River. He was visiting a friend who lives down the road in Drummond Field and liked our quiet neighborhood. If you hear about someone moving into our neighbor-hood, please let me know. Phone or text at 757-532-2459 or email [email protected]. Patricia Burke Welcoming Committee

New Business: Food Drive. - There was discussion about sponsoring a food drive. Bobby reported that the annual Walk for Hunger was moved up and an unofficial deadline of April 18 was established for donations. There being no further business, the board meeting was adjourned at 8:09 pm. Respectfully Submitted, Denise Thomas, Secretary

MORE TO FOLLOW

Prior acknowledgements: We sent our sympathy to Rick Rodriquez on Powie Cir-cle upon the passing of his father. Our sympathy also went to Steve Haag of Falling Creek Circle on the passing of his mother. More recently, we sent our sympathy to Joan Altonen of Fernbrook on the passing of her mother. I notice a lot of bike riders out and about these days, and will take a moment to remind again that walkers/runners face the traffic coming toward you, while the bikers ride with the traffic. I have had a few walkers dispute this, but believe me please. If you think this is fake news, look it up for yourselves. Thanks. Ann Hunt, Sunshine Chair [email protected] 757-229-1384 I appreciate so much when neighbors inform me of sadness or sickness in our community. Please don’t as-sume that someone else will tell me. I would rather get 10 calls than none to alert me to sickness or any other adversity. We want those in pain to know that we care. It doesn’t take a minute to call or send me an email. Thanks to all those who keep me informed.
