Tuesday 9 October 2012In Tuesday,, the program involved

● All partners moved to the work meeting area, which close to the airport, in order to get the Italian group to join us at noon time. The work meeting took place at the building of the Directorate of Education for Central Macedonia (DECM) where

○ The whole project was presented by the coordinator and discussions on meeting dates, especially the substitution of the second meeting with Portugal (Lisbon). area, took place at around 21:00

Wednesday 10 October 2012On Wednesday 10 October, all partners and the headmaster with two more teachers from the hosting country (Greece) offered a daily excursion to Vergina - Aiges (Macedonian Tombs and birthplace of Alexander the Great), Olympus Mountain area (ancient city of Dion, dedicated to Zeus, under Mt. Different opinions were expressed by countries. families, is a good solution for our partnership. The Greek and the project coordinator stressed strongly that if we accept that only half will host students to families/homes, that may create inequalities or problems with being one country unfair to the other, and that as long this is accepted, no problem will appear. The Greek side, supported the Norwegian solution for youth hostel by all. No final conclusion was made that evening and the final decision about meeting dates, and about family hosting was postponed for the Thursday’s working meeting. Having said that, in 2nd in Portugal we have decided that we put pupils (and teachers) at youth hostel.

Thursday 11 October 2012On Thursday 11 October, the partnership had the work meeting at KAMPANIS HIGH SCHOOL, Kilkis. The school community had prepared POSTERS, FLAGS, a BANNER and other material to welcome partners. Partners were welcomed by students and by the Headmaster and a team of teachers by the hosting school. Partners had a very short visit to the school building and talked to school community and after that they went to the STUDIO rooms, of the European School Radio (part of the school building), where the work meeting took place. During the meeting

● partners finalised the date of the second meeting in Portugal, ie working dates 20-23 January 2013 while Mr. Paulo Antunes from Portugal booked the youth hostel in his home country, according to the number of visitors from each partner. It was decided that we book and pay until 20 of October to finalise the booking of the accommodation for the 2nd meeting in Lisbon.

● All partners decided that hosting in families is possible, but only for the schools that want to host students in homes/families; namely, Germany, Turkey, Italy, and possibly Czech and Bulgaria (if we decide to visit with pupils). This decision has the assent of all partners and will avoid conflicts, or disputes among partners, if some ‘injustices’ in hosting may appear. This is stressed strongly by the project coordinator Mr Nikos Yagoulis,, in order to avoid possible problems for the success of the project. Mrs Hana Vernerová from Czech, explained that for reasons that are beyond the school’s control, (pupils stay alone in Prague when their parents live 3 hours away and send them to study in Prague, or that house are small to host other people) they may not be able to host in families. Belgium with Mrs Ann Wyseur, expressed worries about their students not being able either to host in homes (since many not live in families) and in addition, they are kids involved with prisons or other correctional institutions. The later, creates also ambiguity and insecurity to put these kids to families, while visiting countries. So, they prefer youth hostels or hotels for them. Mr Paulo Antunes from Portugal, explained clearly that their students live in worker’s house complex,, and are unable to host other students. Norway with Mrs Mette Holmefjord-Olsen gave us an idea how partners can inexpensively visit Norway and how to accommodate both teachers and students.

● After this major decisions, a live broadcast from Greece on the European School Radio started for almost an hour, from 11.30 to 12.30. In this, coordinators from each country were interviewed by Kampanis High School students and in some cases, also SKYPE connection with their countries was conducted and pupils from these countries were interviewed also.

● At the same time, presentations of countries took place and the CERTIFICATES of ATTENDANCE were given to all coordinators of the Countries.

● Later, just befor lunch time, partners moved to the big alea and had Greek live music, folklore dances and traditions shown, with all school present: teachers, students, headmasters from other schools, the parent association, also, the Director of the Secondary Education Directorate Kilkis and presentative of the Munacipality of Kilkis. Partners had the chance to dance (!).

● Lunch in School was provided by the Parents Association and local Traditional and Women societies. They prepared for Comenius and all the visitors a wealth of domestic home made food, sweets, and local wines and drinks. Returned back to hotel in the evening and night out on the bar-boat , at the harbor area.

Friday 12 October – LAST DAYA greek team of teachers guided through all partners to visiting important sightseeing in Thessaloniki until the evening either on foot or public transportation: Museums, Churches, the Old Town and the Fortress. The partners ate in places where Greeks usually eat everyday. Partners also had the chance for some rest and sunbathing up on the hill of the old town. Strolling in Thessaloniki until the evening.
