Re: Fighting the Virus, We Stand in Solidarity: Best Practice Sharing

Dearest Members, The world has been fighting COVID-19 for months. Over the weekend, Italy, especially Northern Italy, is facing an incremental number of outbreak cases. Helping our member companies manage and prevail in the special period is front and center in our minds. Besides working on planning of our new activities, we would like to share every information and hints that professional institutions or our Chinese partners have practiced and considered useful with our members.

USEFUL TIPS from the World Health Organization or WHO

To reduce the risk of coronavirus, or COVID-19, infection, we suggest that you follow the

precautions suggested by WHO:

• Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds

• Wear masks in crowded public places

• In case of a cold and cough, cover your nose and mouth using tissues

• Ventilate closed spaces often

• Avoid contact with people with respiratory diseases

• Avoid coming into contact with farmed or wild animals

USEFUL TIPS from EnviroVest

So far, China has been fighting this virus for more than a month, the situation in China is

notably improving. With the global collaboration on control measures, fast-tracked medical

research for solutions, such as clinical trials of existing drugs, vaccine, and potential cures, we

are confident that Italy will win this war. In addition to the above precautions and tips

suggested by WHO, from the frontline of the war against COVID-19, GEC also shares the below

tips that China has been practicing for weeks and are widely considered useful and helpful by

Chinese.

• Wash Hand often and for at least 20 seconds with sanitizer or cleanser

o Scrub and cross scrub your fingers and nails while hand washing

o Wash your wrists

• Avoid going out

o Avoid going out to public crowded places such as restaurants, theatres,

shopping malls, etc. Go shopping for food less frequently, and when you do,

finish shopping quickly and try to keep a distance from other people if you

have to be out.

o During the initial outbreak control, for maximum self-protection, stay at home

for 14 days. Keep very close attention to the government’s released

information on infection updates and controlled circumstance, and plan for

the next move.

• Wearing face mask properly when you go out

o When wearing a surgical mask, ensure that:

§ The colored side of the mask faces outwards, with the metallic strip

uppermost

§ The strings or elastic bands are positioned properly to keep the mask

firmly in place

§ The mask covers the nose, mouth and chin, the metallic strip molds

to the bridge of the nose

o Replace the surgical mask after 4 hours of use maximum per time

o Remove a surgical mask properly after wearing it outside

§ AVOID touching the front of the mask

§ Hold and unhook both ear loops and gently lift the mask away from

your face (if the surgical mask has ear loops)

§ Clean your hands with soap and water, or hand sanitizer, before

touching the mask

Friendly Reminder: Put the used mask in a separate bag to dispose of in a medical waste

collector and avoiding mixing with other wastes.
