Green Labs Mission

ENERGY EFFICIENT

WASTE REDUCTION

GREEN PROCUREMENT

There are three main goals to the UCSC Green Labs Program:

1. ENERGY EFFICIENT: Increase energy efficiency within campus labs

2. WASTE REDUCTION: Reduce waste, increase recycling and reuse capacity within campus labs

3. GREEN PROCUREMENT: Increase green purchasing and procurement

Interested in being certified?

Our overall mission is to encourage green practices through education, specific suggestions for behavior change, physical

improvements for energy efficiency, and a comprehensive certification process for labs.

Simple Certification Process: Phase 1: Complete an Online Assessment (Less than 20 minutes)

Phase 2: Walk-through Evaluation (Less than 60 minutes)

Equipment Retrofit Fund

Carbon Fund Grant for Equipment Retrofit is offered to certified labs for

purchasing energy efficient equipment!

So Get Certified!!! (But seriously though)

Platinum (Pt): Achieved by labs with continuous sustainability practices and maintenance of certification through reassessment

Gold (Au): Incorporating a sufficient amount of sustainable practices in the lab with goals of improvement

Silver (Ag): Average application of environmental consciousness in the lab

Levels of Certification

Copper (Cu): Minimal sustainable applications, more integration needed
