She willbe accompanied by her sister andhusband, Mr. and Mrs. Rae Davis. - J.E.Mather and family have moved to acottage at Lake Kampeska for a week'srecreation. - Mr. and Mrs. A.G. Hestadautoed to Castlewood yesterday morningand returned last night. - Dr. H.J. Bartronyesterday purchased a quarter section ofland lying seven miles northwest of thecity. - Dr. L.G. Hill, who has beenconfined to his bed for the last few days isso recovered from his sickness that he isable to be out of doors. - Rev. A.M. Workdeparted this morning for White where hewill deliver a sermon tomorrow. Rev. Mr.Work will return to this city Monday andresume his vacation at Stony Point.
News- Jackie Warren Tastad, the blond-haired, blue-eyed boy of Mr. and Mrs.Virgil Tastad, 114 Sixth street S.E.,Watertown, South Dakota, is just twoyears and eight months old. He is 36inches tall, and weighs 40 pounds. Apicture of Jackie won fifth prize in abeautiful child pictures contest conductedby the Minneapolis Star, daily paper. Hispicture was one of twenty chosen fromthe 5,000 pictures submitted. - TheMisses Reita and Rilla Schnackenbergreturned home Wednesday evening fromDenver, Col. Miss Reita has beenattending the Denver university the pastyear. Rilla spent her vacation with hersister, cousin and aunt, Mrs. Rilla Rillingand daughter, Miss Mabel. She hasresumed her duties at Bee's Beautyshop. They are daughters of Mr. and Mrs.E.H. Schnackenberg.
Hayti- The Hamlin County PublicSpeaking contest and demonstration daywas held recently in the 4-H Auditorium.The topic for the public speaking contestwas "4-H Bridges The Gap". RandallFrederick, Hayti, received a purpleribbon in the Senior division. BonnieSauder, Bryant, received a blue ribbon inthe Senior division and StephanieLakness, Vienna, received a blue ribbonin the Junior division. Purple ribbons wereawarded to Eddie Pulscher, Bryant,"Direct Current Power Supplies"; andKathy Schamens, Hazel, "HorseSense". Gwen and Cathy Juntenen,Vienna, received a blue ribbon on theirteam demonstration, "Cheese Wise". Redribbons were awarded to Lisa Hyde,Castlewood, "Ceramics Is Fun"; CindyLittle, Castlewood, "Tooling Leather"; andDawn Aronson, Lake Norden, "Basics ofBarrel Racing". Judge for the evening wasIrene Heaton, Deuel County extensionhome economist.
Business Digest- Thunder Mountain, westof the swimming pool on West Hwy. 212in Watertown, is now open for business.Al Novstrup and John Sperry are theowners of the new family fun park.Novstrup and Sperry also own a ThunderRoad family fun park in Aberdeen. Theadventure golf is now open and has 18holes of golf, surrounded by a waterfall,bridges and ponds. The go-kart track willopen in September. - Andy Mahowald,the 1996 Realtor of the Year, presentedthe 1997 Realtor of the Year Award toLisa Kieso. The award winner is selectedfrom nominations and is determined byrealtor spirit and that individual'sinvolvement in the realtor associations ona local, state and national level, as well astheir involvement in other groups andorganizations outside of the real estateindustry.
