February, 2016
Greetings!
What a great start of the New Year it has been for Daniel Wertz! As many of you have already heard, we are celebrating our academic improvements - improvements that came from the hard work of students, teachers, and parents! Even though ISTEP scores across the state have gone down, our school did not plunge as much as was experienced state-wide. Even better news is that Daniel Wertz has rebounded in just three years from the bottom of EVSC elementary schools, to near the top. I will be sharing much more information about how we are doing at my State of the School Town Hall Meeting that has been rescheduled to February 19 at 5:30 pm in the cafeteria, before the PTA Family Movie Night event. I will also be glad to answer any school-related questions that you may have. Please plan to attend!
An important part of our school mission is to collaborate for the sake of our students’ learning. Part of this includes getting your input on how we are doing, so we can better serve the needs of your students. Our Honor Roll Breakfast is new this year, in part, because of parent input that we received from last year’s “My School” survey. Many parents wanted us to continue to find ways to recognize academic achievement, and so the Honors Breakfast was created. We need your input again! Information will be sent home soon to let parents know how to access the survey, which will take place February 8-12 this year. Last year, we had a great response with nearly 53% of all families providing input. This year, we want an even higher number! Hearing from you is a great way to help us improve. Your Voice Matters!
PS – Don’t Forget our Annual Tug-of-War is coming up – February 11!
