Community Survey Conclusions Overall perceptions of the District remain strong, particularly among GPS parents.

Parents grades of GPS continue to be high, as do quality of instruction ratings. Parentsfeel that academic needs are being met, students are prepared for high school/post-highschool, and the District saw an increased NPS score this year.

GPS parents perceive that the District is doing a good job of insuring the physical needsof the children are being met. Parents feel their children feel safe at school, and areconfident of the schools ability to respond to an emergency situation.

Perceptions among community members who do not have children in the District aremixed, compared to 2008. Though grades from current parents remained strong, thepercentage of non-parents providing high grades decreased significantly from 2008.Parents preference for information to be communicated via email and the GSD websitehas increased dramatically, for both GPS news and student information.

Strong perceptions that strong academic schools increase property values set a goodfoundation for support for the proposed override this fall. The additional informationabout the impact if the override does not pass is more likely to increase support for theoverride than have a negative impact on support. Further, lack of financial support wasconsidered the biggest challenge among GPS parents for the first time this year, reflecting general sentiment of concern for funding of the District.
