Green Key is an international environmental award that certifies that this establishment has an environmental policy and is actively working on environmental improvements. Who grants the Green Key Award? Green Key is an international environmental award programme run by the international organisation Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). This is an organisation that has several environmental programmes (eg the Blue Flag Award and Eco Schools) and exists in 64 countries around the world. All countries follow the same international criteria which guarantee that if you choose a Green Key accommodation in France it follows the same criteria as in Sweden and other countries. The Keep Sweden Tidy Foundation is responsible for FEE programmes in Sweden. All certified establishments are reviewed regularly by the Keep Sweden Tidy Foundation to ensure that they fulfil the criteria. The members of the Swedish steering group for Green Key are Natures Best/ Swedish Ecotourism Association, Swedish Association of Eco-municipalities, SCR Swedish Association of Campsite Managers and Visita, the Swedish Hotel and Restaurant Association. The Keep Sweden Tidy Foundation works towards reducing litter, promoting recycling, and raising environmental awareness.
