Ms Danielle Naugle, Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. CMS VATAVARAN travelled to Gangtok and Agra as part of the 6 th travelling film festival Gangtok (March 12 - 17, 2015)- With participation of more than 4000 people from across the state, Gangtok CMS VATAVARAN films covered issues ranging from water conservation, environment awareness, wildlife conservation, marine biodiversity conservation and more. The festival was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister of Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management, Shri Tshering Wangdi Lepcha. The festival comprised of inauguration, felicitation of green ambassadors, panel discussion, green filmmaking workshop, nature trail, slogan writing competition and film screenings. A total of 20 schools participated in the film screenings and workshop held at Department of Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management, Department of Science, Technology & Climate Change and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Gangtok, respectively. Around 250 youth from six states of India attended the programmes. Agra (March 26 - 28, 2015) - The film festival saw a participation of 1500 people from across the state, which included students, environment experts, officials from conservation organizations, faculty members, defence personnel, jail inmates and others. Prof Mohd Muzammil, the Vice Chancellor of Dr B R Ambedkar University, who was the Chief Guest, declared the festival open. Green Ambassadors of Uttar Pradesh were facilitated in the inaugural programme. Over the course of three days, the festival witnessed an inauguration ceremony, felicitation of green ambassadors, cleaning drive, slogan writing competition and film screenings. Rajpur Nature Film Festival collaborates with CMS VATAVARAN - The first Rajpur Nature Film Festival was organized in partnership with CMS VATAVARAN at Rajpur from April 14-18, 2015. The first Rajpur Nature Film Festival celebrated the natural biodiversity of Dehradun and threw light on the significance and vulnerability of Rajpur as one of the last remaining green belts of the city. The festival created awareness among citizens of Dehradun on the need to prioritize environmental concerns along with intelligent urban planning, and explore options that encourage living in harmony with nature. Disney Friends for Change: Conserving Green Spaces programme, for which CMS is the sustainability partner, entered year 2 with the Orientation Programme for schools being held on 29 April, 2015 at the IGNCA Auditorium in New Delhi. 120 teachers from 66 schools of Delhi-NCR participated in the programme, where they provided information on the year-long project and the process of applying for the grant of Rs 4 lakhs. The grant will be utilized by the schools for adopting an underdeveloped park and undertaking activities for its redevelopment from August- December 2015.
