while the bottom drawers are set back to provide ideal working conditions.

Working in the kitchen requires many repetitive movements which may cause fatigue, especially if everything is not within reach.

For those who spend a great deal of time in the kitchen, an incorrect posture may occur, eventually causing physical pain. An

ergonomic analysis of the model one intends to purchase is essential. It would be disappointing to find out after the installation

that the components and accessories purchased are unsuitable. It is important to establish a good work flow within the kitchen.

It is necessary that the counter top is at the correct height so the utensils and other objects are all within easy reach; that cor-

(for safety) glass, and is coated on the underside in a choice of white, grey and black colors

Stainless steel worktop. Resistant, hygienic, waterproof, acid and oil resistant they are prac-

tically indestructible - many good reasons why these are used by top chefs in their professio-

nal kitchens. Although not resistant to scratches, in the long run the scratches create a patina

or lived effect which becomes attractive in its own way, however not recommended to those

obsessed with cleaning (Pedini offers a free cleaning kit for the maintenance of the stainless

steel). The quality of the tops can be observed by the finishing touches (folds, welding), the qua-

Marble and granite worktop. Their use belongs to a tradition which dates back to the first

sthetically this is a nice look and it is practical in use also. The lack of protrusions and ledges

on the countertop facilitate the movement of objects and the well-balanced surface redu-

ces the risk of spillage. Attention should be taken during installation to ensure a proper and

The oven. Ovens can be electric or microwave. Electric ovens have a multitude of functions

and are also soil resistant, safe and incorporate a high level of technology. Because of the

wide variety available it would be the best to take care when choosing an appropriate oven.

The cook top.All cook tops can be electric or gas supplied. We strongly advise against the

use of electric cook top due to their high consumption of the electric power and the scarce

availability in domestic homes which is usually only 3kw/h. This would imply that an elec-

tric cook top could use the entire amount causing problems with other electric appliances.

Choosing a gas cook top would be more economical and reliable. After making the choice

of a cook top that is practical, safe, aesthetically pleasing and of appropriate dimensions,

the appliance should be equipped with the following: a) security valve to prevent gas lea-

kage in the case of extinction of the flame or accidental opening of a knob b) stable grills

that are also dishwasher-safe c) the burners, where the actual combustion of the gas takes

place (and the emission of carbon monoxide, a highly toxic gas) should have a pure flame

and be appropriate in improving combustion and reducing leakage. The curved stainless

steel cook top, in the picture above, is a patented model by Pedini.

The ventilation / exhaust hood. Kitchen cooking activities can lead to an excess of oil,

steam, odors and toxins deriving from the combustion of gases. Proper removal to the out-

side is necessary and is accomplished with the use of an exhaust hood. The exhaust hood is

connected to the outside by duct work assuring complete re-cycling of the air within the kit-

chen. The exhaust capacity of the hood depends on a good motor and correct planning of the

external duct, not forgetting that every 90 angle reduces exhaust capacity by 15%. A straight

line evacuation will improve efficiency. The motor of the hood should have an exhaust capa-

city of at least 450mc/h and should be connected to the outside ducting to be effective.
