Naturally, one doesn't have to be European to enjoy this record. All one needs is a love for music, some gypsy in his soul, and a song in

his heart. And Mirko and his electrifying guitar will do the rest.

As a student at the University of Belgrade, Mirko toured throughout Europe playing the banjo in the college band. While in Spain, Mirko's interest and inevitably his love turned to

the guitar. Possessed with a great determination to master the guitar, he diligently practiced for hours each day. He soon received an offer to play on the radio, and he immediately accepted, after which his career as a professional guitarist flourished with engagement after engagement.

During the New York World's Fair of 1939, Mirko was the principal musician at the Yugoslav pavilion. At this time he was one of the first entertainers to appear on television, then in its infancy. While in America he toured the States with other Yugoslav performers. Returning to the East coast, he decided to stay and

settle in New York City, where he met and married his wife, Anne .

As the years passed, he played at the smartest supper clubs such as Ted Stone's Penthouse Club, La Vie Parisienne, and Ruban Bleu; he appeared in the finest hotels: Waldorf-Astoria, Pierre, and St. Moritz; and he toured in popular shows: "Catherine Was Great" with Mae West,

and with Eddie Albert and Margo and many others. In 1965 Mirko was elected a Fellow of the Society of the Classic Guitar by acclamation.

After traveling, touring and appearing in these clubs, hotels, and shows, Mirko and his wife decided to open their very own club -Mirko' 5 - located at 408 East 64th Street in

New York. This quaint hide-away, continental in flavor, caters to all nationalities and is a favorite haven for the social set and the artistically inclined. At Mirko' 5 one can hear the amazing Mirko in person six days but - Never on Sunday. However, for those unable to visit Mirko's in New York, or for those who wish to hear Mirko whenever in the mood, this unique album will enable Mirko and his magic guitar to entertain you personally in your home.
