OverviewThe Professional Master of Education (PME) in Primary Education at Hibernia College is the recognised postgraduate qualification for primary school teaching.
It is a 120-credit award at Level 9 and the duration of the programme is two years (24 months). It is a flexibly delivered blended learning programme, combining online content, virtual learning environments and face-to-face delivery to develop professionals and experts who are positioned to be leaders in the field of primary education.
Entry RequirementsAll applicants must hold:
• A primary degree, National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) Level 8.
• Leaving Certificate requirements as below: Please note the introduction of new entry requirements from Autumn 2021.

Teaching Foundations 15 credits
Pedagogy 1: Physical, Arts and Inclusive Education

Candidates for the programme are selected based on their performance in a General interview and a Gaeilge interview.
Gaeilge4 weeks in the Gaeltacht (2 weeks in year 1 and 2 weeks in year 2)
