GOD FORGIVES The Lord said to Joshua, “Today I have removed the reproach of Egypt from you.” After forty years of wandering in the desert, this hard-headed people have finally reached the Promised Land. No more do they eat the manna in the desert, but they partake of the fruits of their new homeland. God has kept the promise to their parents in Egypt. Even though they were a sinful people, many times questioning God and even worshiping false gods, God has forgiven them and fulfilled the promise. The “take-away” for us is that there is no sin that is unforgivable. We may have offended our neighbors, given a bad example to someone, even worshiped the false gods of money and power. But God is a merciful God, true to the words spoken to us. God forgives all and calls us back to love. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

MEN’S RETREAT AT MANRESA Since the late 1930s, men from Holy Family Parish have grown in faith by attending a 3 day retreat at the Manresa House of Retreats in Convent, Louisiana. This year’s retreat will begin on the evening of Thursday, July 4 and end after lunch on Sunday, July 7. If you are interested in attending this year’s session, or would like more information, contact Barry Brewer, Group 27 Co-Captain, at (225) 324-8826.
RECITATION OF THE ROSARY
The rosary is recited at 6:00 p.m. on Thursdays in the daily chapel. Everyone is invited to come and pray.
A MESSAGE FROM FR. DAVID We are more than half way through Lent and many feel bad because they have not been true to their Lenten fasting. Remember it is never too late to begin anew. Try to restart some form of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. I know Fr. Matt and I are having to hold fast to prayer as we cross the bridge daily from the Eastside to the Westside. There is no real reason an area with less than 500,000 people should have the traffic problems we do. It is part lack of planning, part lack of funding, part lack of vision and courage to do what must be done, no matter the sacrifices. I am always amazed how other states without the natural resources and blessings of LA can somehow have such beautiful and efficient means of transportation. As we enter these final weeks of Lent, don’t lose sight of the blessings available in our parish. Each Wednesday night we have Reconciliation/Confession in the chapel at 5:30 & Saturdays at 3 PM. Stations of the Cross are Friday’s at 5 PM and the K. C.’s have their fish dinners at 5:30 PM, with the Crawfish Bisque, Friday, April 12. Our Holy Family Bear Fair is April 5-6. This is a wonderful time to come out and support us in our 69th year of Catholic Education. We need your support and our community needs Holy Family School. Please note that on Saturday, March 30th, we will have Communal Anointing of the Sick following 4 PM mass. If you are elderly, in poor health or with serious illness this is a special sacrament of God’s healing grace. Its roots are in scripture, James 5: 13-16. Fr. Jon Koehler will be here to assist in administering this sacrament. Please make plans to attend one or more of our Holy Triduum services, April 18-20. Although not days of obligation, they are some of the most important days of our Catholic Christian Faith. The services are really power classes in faith, as well as beautiful celebrations of God’s love, forgiveness and new life for each of us.
ARE YOU A REGISTERED PARISHIONER?? Are you a part of our parish family? If you are living in our parish and are not a registered parishioner, you are invited to contact the Church Office at 383-1838 to register.
BE WHAT YOU SEEK
