PARISH NEWS & EVENTS SAVE THE DATE — Our Lenten Mission is Sunday to Thursday, March 8-12. Evening ses-sions begin at 7pm; morning sessions at 9am (daily Mass + mission).
BLESSED PALMS — Last year’s blessed palms will be burned for use on Ash Wednesday. This is your last chance to bring your old palms this weekend, February 22/23.
ASH WEDNESDAY — Receiving ashes on the forehead is a visible symbol of penance as we begin the liturgical season of Lent on Wednesday, February 26. Mass times are 9am and 7pm. (Christians of other denominations, non-practicing Catholics and the ex-communicated are welcome to receive ashes, but only Catholics in a state of Grace may receive Holy Communion. Confession is available before both Masses: 8:30am to 8:50am and 6pm to 6:50pm.)
ELIJAH CUP — Parishioners pray daily for vocations with the Elijah Cup displayed promi-nently in a place of honor in your home. Signup binder is in the vestibule (round table).
This week: Sunday, February 23, 11:00am — Karen & Bob Langgle Next week: Sunday, March 1, 11:00am — Tim & Cathie Gutman Family
HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS — Two college scholarship application forms are available in the church office and on the HSCCW page of our parish website (for download & print). Three weeks remain ‘til the submission deadline for each application—Monday, March 16, 2020:
• Holy Spirit Council of Catholic Women - $750 and $500 scholarships • Southern Deanery Council of Catholic Women - $500 scholarship
EASTER BASKET SERVICE PROJECT — Your help is needed to evangelize families in our community about the true meaning of Easter. Help spread the Good News of Jesus’ resur-rection with Christian Easter baskets for children. Donate individually wrapped candy or party-favor type toys (suitable for kids ages 2-12) in the yellow box in Emmaus Hall, or bring them to the parish office (business hours) by Wednesday, April 1. (NO grass, bas-kets, or plastic eggs are needed.) Sign up for our Christian Easter Baskets at the parish office on Pantry Wednesdays, February 26 thru Wednesday, April 1. For more information, contact Monica, (321) 269-2282 or [email protected].
PREPARE FOR NEXT SUNDAY, MARCH 1, 2020 FIRST READING — The man and the woman ate the fruit of the one tree that God had told them to avoid, and their shame overtook them (Genesis 2:7-9; 3:1-7).
Psalm — Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned (Psalm 51).
Second Reading — Death reigned from Adam to Moses, but now grace and life abound in Christ Jesus (Romans 5:12-19 [12, 17-19]).
Gospel — Jesus was led into the desert by the Spirit and there he fasted for forty days and forty nights (Matthew 4:1-11). LENTEN FRIDAY SCHEDULE Mass is at 8am and again at 6pm on Lenten Fridays. Make it a family event! “The family who prays together, stays together” is not just a catchy quote. Before Mass, let the ushers know if your family is willing to take the Gifts to the altar. This is a big help to them!
Soup Supper follows the 6pm Mass each Friday in Lent. Parishioners are encouraged to participate! Ministry members (see below) bring a meat-less soup, bread, crackers, peanut butter, jelly, or beverage on their assigned Friday to Emmaus Hall before Mass (at least by 5:45pm).
Stations of the Cross begin at 7:20pm in the church. If you’re at the Soup Supper, listen for the 5-minute warning; take time to clear your table. Pick up a copy of the “Way of the Cross” booklet when you enter the church. (Note: Stations of the Cross end by 8pm.)
Note these dates on your calendar. Thank you for inviting family, friends and neighbors to join us for worship & fellowship on Friday nights!

Your pledge to OUR CATHOLIC APPEAL supports the ministries of our diocese, mak-ing it possible for every parish to be better equipped to carry out the work of Christ.
Please return your pledge envelope... • Prayerfully consider your sacrificial gift. What can
your family comfortably & reasonably afford?
• Choose a one-time gift or up to 10 installments.
• If you simply cannot donate this year, please write “not this year” on your pledge envelope.
• If you already pledged online or by mail, let us know the amount of your pledge. (The sooner we know that our goal is reached, the sooner Father Andrew can stop begging from the ambo!)
• Return your OCA envelope in the collection basket or bring it to the parish office within the next few weeks.
