Mr. and Mrs. Don Matthews and daughters of Newaygo, and Mrs. Fred Todd and children of Mus- kegon. spent Sunday with their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Saur. Mr. Todd wa/ unable to be present as he Is a member of the fire de- partment and was on duty Sunday. The four daunhters of Mrs. Ed- win Hawkins (Mrs. Lester Johnson. Mrs. Ted Johnson, Mrs. Richard Hobinson of Sand Lake and Mrs. Harry Verhey of Grand Rapid*), planned a pleasant surprise for hec or. her birthday last Tuesday. They invited her to go for a drive which ended at Ravenna where a nice luncheon had been prepared for them. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Potter had as Easter Sunday guests: Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Smith and family of Belmont (the latter the former Joyce Pott«-r>, Mr. and Mrs. Rus- sell Potter and family of Albion and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Morris and family of Grand Rapids. Mrs. Lona Gllmore has been vis- iting Mr. and Mrs. Noble Hook of Portland and is now with relatives in Ohio. Leslie Burnett is spending some time with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Re* Foxworthy. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Millard and children of Lake Orion, were week- end guests of their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Dlllard McClurg. Mrs. Richard Thorne of Grand Rapids, took a plane for Washing- ton, D. C.. to spend the week-end with her husband, who is in the Air Corps. Mrs. Thorne is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ancel Nelson. Mrs. Don Mattson entertained a group of boys in honor of her son's eleventh birthday. Friday. Mrs. Martha Austin, Mrs. Nellie Marvin and Mrs. Arleen Winell also attend- ed the party. Mr. and Mrs. Brink Bolthouae and family of Clarksville and Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Mattson of Grand Rapids, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Austin. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Clair Power family were Sunday visitors at the Arthur Johnson home. Roberta Rciley of Kalamazoo is spending the week with her par- ents. Larson, who have been missionaries to Bolivia, are spending a few days at the Ed- win Hawkins home while they are considering home missionary work among the migrant workers near Grant, a work which has been car- ried on for several years by Mrs. Agnes (Mouthaan) Shippy. Rev. Harold Hufford, a former pastor ot the Baptist Church, leav- ing here ten years ago. closed a very successful week of meetings Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Smith en- tertained their children over the week-end: Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Smith of Rockford and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hagadone of Oncke- ma. Mich. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Roberts. Maurice Roberts and Eli Roberts, visited Mr. and Mrs. EH Roberts of Lansing over the week-end. Carol Roberts of Birmingham, was also a guest. Mr. and Mrs Wm. Nlelson, Mrs. Jane Munson and M r .
