BIG DEVELOPMENTS IN SMALL TOWNS AND THEIR EFFECTS.
The brief we were given was to pitch an idea to a panel, including the commissioning editor for BBC factual entertainment, a series producer from The One show and a director of the episode. This idea needs to be of local interest and last 4 minutes, which will be a segment in The One Show.
My pitch is about big developments in small towns and their effects. This presentation will include;
• My idea
• Pre-production
• Production
• Post production
• Audience
MY PITCH
In Royal Wootton Bassett, plans have been made for a new Tesco superstore, 300 homes, homes for older people, a new
doctors surgery, public open spaces and play areas for children.
MY IDEA
A BIT ABOUT ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT
Wootton Bassett became ‘Royal’ after her Majesty’s Letters Patent was Delivered on behalf of the queen by Princess Anne. This was awarded to the town in recognition of the community’s role in honoring members of the armed forces as they were repatriated via RAF Lyneham.Prince Charles and Camilla visited to thank the town for its support for the armedForces.
PAPERWORK+ CONTRIBUTORS
I hope to be able to get interviews with the local MP James Gray, Mayor and Ex Mayor to hear their opinions and their involvement in the development. I also would like to interview the head teacher of the local comprehensive school to find out whether a development of 300 Houses would be a problem for a school.

PAPERWORK- STORYBOARD, LOCATION AND EQUIPMENT LIST.
In your handout pack there will be the call sheet,Locations and equipment list, story board andrisk assessment.
The target audience for my pitch is The One Show viewers, in order for my target audience to be met my idea needs to be attractive to all audiences, from ages 18-60 year olds.
The secondary audience for my idea are males and females aged 40+. This is because slightly older people will care more for their community if they have lived there for many years, and people from local small communities who may have had developments in their home towns.
AUDIENCE
I have chosen the idea of big developments in small towns and their effects because I feel that it would fit well into the one show as previous 4 minute slots have been informative, interesting to watch and would appeal to all audiences who watch the show.
I also believe it brings a local element and shows how a small town can unite together over something they feel so passionately about, and grow stronger as a community.
RE-CAP
Any questions?
