A Greek philosopher, named Thales, found that when amber was rubbed against silk, it became charged and attracted other objects. He had discovered static electricity.

George Ohm, a German scientist, defined the relationship between power, voltage, current and resistance.

Hans Christian Ørsted’s accidental discovery that an electrical current moves a compass needle shocked the world! This led to the first ever electric motor.

Benjamin Franklin discovered the connection between lightning and electricity when he used a kite to collect the charge from a storm cloud.

William Gilbert, an English scientist, was the first person ever to talk about electric attraction to magnetic poles.

A Scottish scientist, JC Maxwell, published the mathematical theory of electromagnetic fields (he was very clever) and his four laws of electrodynamics led to electric power, radios and TV.

The electric generator was invented in France, using large magnets to produce pulses of alternating current.

The electric battery was invented in Italy. (It didn’t look like this)

Back in 600BC there were no social media stories for sharing anything totes amazing!

That’s current, not currant...

What’s the point in these without remote controls?

Even though TV first became popular in the 1950s, it took until 1997 for the Teletubbies to arrive.

Thomas Edison invented the electric lightbulb in New York City. Finally, people stopped bumping into each other...

Electric buses arrive in Harrogate.
