Hanzarail Context
• Call for tender end of May 2008 (including requirement specifications and operating principles)
• Tender Design process during 5 months led to a refined specification dossier based on Change Requests issued by the suppliers.
• Negotiation phase from Jan to April 2009; update of specification dossier based on signalling specialist meetings (e.g. finalisation of entrance in level 2 principles).
• Since contract signature in May 2009, close collaboration between Prorail and HanzaRail Team (dedicated specialist meetings at least once a month).

Main functions
• Dutch application of Euro-IXL signalling rules, including: − Set, lock, monitor, release, cancel routes, − Manage ATB-EG, − Manage Signals, − Manage Movable elements, − Manage TTI, − Interface adjacent IXL, − Interface RBC − ATB-VV

• ERTMS and ATB-EG/Signals are driven in parallel by IXL (no consistency check between both).

Hanzelijn : Main Operational Processes
• Traffic Controller does not know whether a train is fitted with ERTMS or not
• Driver has to respect signal at danger (Red or dark) even if Cab signalling allows to run
• Consistency of TSRs shall be ensured procedurally
• Driver can change the ATP system in case of degraded mode
