Dear Residents,

The Great Harvest Bake Off

This week the whole school community have been celebrating the

autumn harvest with a whole school event which involves planning,

cooking and selling the children’s creations. Each class has planned to

bake/make something to raise money for two different local charities.

The parents/carers have been invited in to school today to visit a pop

up café. The money raised through our Great Harvest Bake Off will be

split amongst LeatherHEAD START and Epsom and Ewell Foodbank.

LeatherHead START provides emergency, direct access, short-term

accommodation for homeless men and women over the age of 18.

Priority is given to those with a local connection to Mole Valley.

Epsom and Ewell Foodbank is run by local people for local people and

they rely on the community’s support to ensure they can continue to

stop people going hungry.

As a school we are very proud to support these extremely vital local

charities.

We wish you all a very restful half term.

Best wishes,

Safe parking and driving

We promote safe parking and driving at regular points in our school newsletters and we regularly ask for Traffic

Wardens to support us as we are aware that not everyone is considerate when using local roads.

You may be aware that we kindly ask our Parents/Carers to follow a voluntary one way route around Christ

Church Mount at peak times. This is to ease congestion and keep traffic flowing.

If you wanted to join in at drop off (8.40am-ish) and pick up, (3.00pm-ish), then we are driving round Christ

Church Mount so that the School is on the left. Many thanks for your continuing support.

As a school we know the importance of educating both the

mind and heart. As a result we have partnered with MindUP to

train the staff so that they can give the children the tools to

recognise and reduce stress so they are not carrying it and can

lead happy lives.

We have chosen MindUP as it aims to:

Teach children well being and resilience

Increase feelings of optimism and enhance well being

Improve self-control and self management

Help children understand their brains and the effect on emotions and behaviour

Engage the children in school and community

Increase empathy and compassion and reduce bullying

The MindUp lessons revolve around neuroscience and it has been wonderful to see the children

eagerly embracing concepts and the high order scientific vocabulary that they have been

introduced to. Terminology such as the pre frontal cortex, hippocampus and amygdala are now

referred to amongst even the youngest children in the school!

Community Lettings

Stamford Green Primary School has a number of

facilities for clubs and individuals to hire including

catering facilities.

Facilities are for hire throughout the year for both

evenings and weekends.

Individual bookings for a one off event or block

bookings are available and are accepted on

receipt of a signed copy of the school's Terms

and Conditions of hire and a copy of a Public

Liability Insurance cover (if available). Payment

for hire is made in advance, and normally

requested by invoice.

Please note, school events will take priority over external bookings. However, where a booking

coincides with school events, clubs/individuals will be given as much notice as possible, and we

will endeavour to make alternative arrangements to minimize any inconvenience.

Please see http://www.stamford-green.surrey.sch.uk/facilities-hire/ for an application for use

form.
