IOSH Managing Safety

This Managing Safety course, designed for managers and supervisors, of any organisation or sector, is unlike any other. IOSH Working Safely

This Working Safely course is designed for people at any level in any sector, andmeets the government’s guidelines for introductory Health and Safety training.

Our IOSH accredited trainer holds a NEBOSH Diploma and has over 25 yearsHealth and Safety experience working in the private and public sector, inmanufacturing, chemicals and leisure and sport.

Accident Report Training

This training provides delegates with an understanding and basic skills tocomplete accident/investigation reports.

It focuses on the need to provide and record legible and accurate information. It also provides guidance on how to record existing precautions and to identifyremedial actions that will help prevent reoccurrences.

Areas Covered: � How to complete suitable and sufficient accident/incident investigations(checklist provided).

� Step-by-step explanation of a typical accident form.� When/how to use additional information sheets in particular for witnessstatements.

� Explanation of the RIDDOR requirements and how these are recorded

and reported.� What constitutes a RIDDOR involving a member of the public. � The reporting of minor bump to the head forms. � Syndicate Session 1- Riddor reportable or not? We provide various scenariosand delegates are asked to determine if they are reportable to the HSE. Theywill also identify possible existing and additional precautions that could betaken.

� The accident v near miss ratio safety triangle.� Syndicate Session 2 – Review examples of poor quality accident/incidentreports. Delegates will identify where lack of information is evident andsuggest improvements.

Class paperwork includes examples of the forms covered in the training.

Event Management Training

This training provides delegates with an understanding of what an event is andhow an event should be managed.

At the end of the training, delegates will be able use an event risk matrix tocategorise high, medium, low and insignificant events. This will ensure theappropriate controls are identified and implemented within a specified timeframe.The competency of each delegate will be assessed via a questionnaire at the endof the session.

Areas Covered:� Defining event management and what an event is.� Why the need for good event management.� Event/activity application form and risk matrix.� Site manager responsibilities.� Event organiser responsibilities.� Risk assessment requirements.� Insurance and licensing requirements.

Insurance Overview Training

This training provides delegates with an understanding of the claims procedureand details the different types of insurances available and when each is required.The training also provides advice on how to respond to a letter of claim.

Areas covered

Insurance:

� Property Insurance.� Contents Insurance.� Professional indemnity.� Public and employee insurance.

Claims Process:

� What to do if you receive a potential claim.� Responding to a letter claim.� Investigating a claim.� Site Inspections and the claim process.� Being a witness.

At the end of the training session delegates will have the knowledge andconfidence to handle any claim made against their organisation and proceduresin place to minimise the chances of a successful claim brought against them.

All attendees are provided with handouts of the training slides.

Course duration: 3 hours £60 per delegate

Fire Safety Awareness

This training is aimed at employees who have specific duties within their site’s fireplan. This may include one or a number of roles that play a part in primarily fireprevention and also, when needed, fire evacuation. It can be tailored to suit yourorganisation/buildings.

Areas Covered: � Overview of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.� Completing Fire Risk Assessments (overview only). � The Fire Triangle.

Fire prevention and controls within buildings including:� Early detection systems.� Fire doors and sterile areas.� Testing of alarm call points, emergency lighting, sounders, visual alarms.� Specific procedures relating to lifts, refuge areas.� The selection and use of fire fighting equipment e.g. extinguishers, blankets.� Completion of the fire safety inspection checklist.� The role of key personnel during an evacuation planned or otherwise, focusingon the raising of the alarm, drive to arrive policy, sweeps, ensuring a quick andeffective evacuation and accounting for all personnel.

� What happens after an evacuation.� What can happen if it goes wrong.

Course duration: 4 hours £75 per delegate

Risk Assessment Training

This training provides delegates with an understanding and basic skills toundertake general risk assessments.

It is a practical training session where delegates can demonstrate anunderstanding of the five principles of risk assessment.

Areas Covered: � Why the need for risk assessments. An overview of the key elements of Healthand Safety legislation that organisations needs to comply with.

� Accident causation and an overview of the types of accidents/incidents thatcan occur an organisation.

� The five principles of risk assessments.� Who can complete risk assessments, what defines “competency”.� Hazard and risk definition and rating.� A typical risk assessment form and risk rating matrix.� The hierarchy of risk control.� When to review risk assessments. Risk assessment index/control sheet.

All delegates are asked to complete a short questionnaire to establish if theyhave understood the information provided during the training session.

Course handouts will be provided.

Fire Risk Assessments

All commercial properties with 5 or more persons must have a compliant FireRisk Assessment which include Offices, Shops, Schools, Colleges, Hotels, PublicHouses, Restaurants, Cafes, Night Clubs, Factories & Warehouses.

If your premises or business activities are complex, you may not feel confident infully assessing the risks involved. Many businesses are unable to commit thetime and effort required to complete a fire risk assessment properly. This is wherewe can help. Our purpose is to ensure your business is safe and you comply withthe legal obligations of the Fire Safety Order.

Our detailed and legally compliant report is carried out in accordance withPAS79: 2012 (Guidance and recommended methodology) and will identify thepeople at risk, the potential fire hazards, the fire protection measures currently inplace and the management of fire safety. Any issues identified will bedocumented on a user friendly Action Plan report that will form part of theAssessment.
