    Theoverreachinggoalsofthehealthfocuseventsaretoincreaseawarenessandaccesstohealthfortheuninsured/underservedLatinocommunityinboth

    SCREENINGS 368 peoplecompletedallofthefollowing:cholesterol,bloodpressureandglucosescreenings 168 dentalscreeningscompleted 114 peoplereceivedskin/sundamagechecksonsite 69 eyeexamscompleted 36 prostateexamswerecompleted

    REFERRAL 59 womenscheduledforfreemammogramandpelvic/papexam

    VOLUNTEERS 150 volunteers 60 volunteerhealthcareproviders 40 volunteerinterpreters

  • SmokingCessation

    Currentsmokingwasreportedby17%and20%reportedhavingeverusedtobacco.

    Weidentifiedahighrateofquitattemptsandalowutilizationofstandardsmokingcessationmethods.

    27peoplereceivedonsitesmokingcessationassessment,counselingandpharmacotherapytreatment.

    Thevastmajorityofparticipantswereveryinterestedinparticipatinginresearchstudiestostopsmokingandwouldwanttoparticipateinafreestopsmokingprogram.

    Effectivecasemanagementrequiressystemstoidentifypatientsinneedofservice,trackchangesinhealthcareneeds,assureaccesstotreatmentsinaccordancewithbestpracticesandtoproactivelyengagepatientsinbehavioralchange.

    During2006&2007events,casemanagerswereavailabletoreviewscreeningresults,tailoreducationalinformationandcommunityresources,andidentifyhighriskpatientsforfollowup.
