“HEART & FRIENDS: HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS”
DECEMBER 13 AT THE QUEEN ELIZABETH THEATRE TICKETS ON SALE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20 AT 10:00am
Vancouver, BC ~ Paul Mercs Concerts is honoured to present recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Heart in Vancouver at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 8:00pm. More than three decades ago, Heart started their career as one of Vancouver’s finest young bands. Now Ann and Nancy Wilson are returning to the city they love so much for their first-‐ever Canadian holiday concert. To help celebrate this holiday concert, Heart has invited a few special friends to join this unique show that mixes holiday songs with iconic hits plus a few fun surprises. Ann Wilson and her younger sister, Nancy Wilson, first showed the world that women can rock when their band Heart stormed the charts in the ‘70s with hits like “Crazy on You”, “Magic Man”, “Barracuda”, “Straight On”, “Even It Up”, “Kick It Out”, and many more. Not only did the Wilson sisters lead the band, they wrote the songs and played the instruments, making them the first women in rock to do so. Heart continued topping the charts through the ‘80s and into the ‘90s with mega hits such as “These Dreams”, “Alone”, and “Never”, to name a few. Over four decades and fourteen studio albums, Heart has sold more than 35 million records; spawned twenty-‐one Top 40 hits; has sold out arenas worldwide; and has profoundly influenced the sound and direction of rock music. In 2010, Heart released their first album in half a dozen years. Red Velvet Car received both critical and commercial acclaim, debuting in the Top 10 of Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart. In 2012, Ann and Nancy released a memoir, Kicking & Dreaming: A Story of Heart, Soul and Rock & Roll, which became an immediate New York Times best seller. They also released a definitive box set, Strange Euphoria, a carefully considered anthology of greatest hits and best-‐loved songs set alongside deep catalogue treasures, rarities, demos, and live performances on three compact discs and one DVD in a deluxe box set. In addition, they released a new album, Fanatic, which features three hit singles: “Fanatic”, “Walking Good”, featuring Sarah McLachlan, and “Dear Old America”. In September of 2012, the Wilson sisters were awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and on April 18, 2013, were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which was broadcast worldwide on HBO.
