The 2011 Women, Mother, Daughter Luncheon provided the
hundreds of ladies in attendance with a wholesome time of
wholeness! During Mother’s Day Weekend, the banquet atten-
dees met in a beautifully decorated room, dined on a delecta-
ble buffet of mouth-watering dishes, enjoyed a lovely Chris-
tian fellowship, and sang high praises to the Lord.
To commemorate Mother’s Day, there were two mother/
daughter duos on the program. Sis Lakia Flagg and her daugh-
ter Nia ministered in a praise dance, while Sister
Stephanie Williams and her daughter Alexis
ministered in song.
Special recognition was also given dur-
ing the luncheon. First Lady Margaret Dennison
presented all of the girls who completed the
Compassionate Outreach Ministries Purity Pro-
gram with two gifts. The gifts symbolize the
vows that the girls have taken to remain pure.
Each girl received a pink wrap embroidered with Psalm 51:10 to wear to formal events. Each
girl also received a gold chain with a key and
lock. First Lady Dennison lady told the girls, “The
lock and key means purity!”
The highlight of the afternoon was the
featured speaker, Dr. Vernette Rosier. Dr. Rosier is
the co-pastor of Fellowship Church of Praise in
Panama City, Florida. She preached an awesome
message on wholeness. She asked attendees, “Wilt
thou be made whole?” Dr. Rosier then went on to
discuss the plagues and issues which are common
in the lives of many contemporary women. She
encouraged every woman in the room to release those things
that destroy self-worth, to have faith in the Lord, to prepare
for the future, and to pursue God with urgency. Following
this life-changing word, the Women’s Fellowship Committee
provided door-prizes to dozens of fortunate ladies. The
prizes included cash, gift sets, cds and other wonderful to-
kens of appreciation. This splendid pre-Mother’s Day event
was enjoyed by all. Thanks to First Lady Dennison and the
Women’s Fellowship Committee!

April 16th kicked off
the first C.O.M.
Men’s Fellowship
game of 2011. The
men came together for
a Bowling Champion-
ship! It was an exhila-
rating and competitive
experience. There
were 3 teams and the
captains were Bro.
David Frazier, Bro.
Jonathan Dennison,
and Bro. Donald
McLean.
Each team selected
their lanes, logged
each player’s name in,
and started with a
practice game to
warm up and get the
feel of the ball. We
were conversing, fel-
lowshipping, and de-
veloping our bowling
style until the champi-
onship game began.
The players began the
championship game
giving it their competi-
tive edge. In spite of
the age differences, the
young and the old
bowled to win.
All the while
we ate popcorn
and laughed.
Half-way
through the
game, Bro.
David Frazier’s
team had a sig-
nificant lead.
That team in-
cluded Bro. Frazier,
Bro. Alexander, Bro.
Carter, and Bishop
Dennison. One of the
most interesting things
that I observed about
this team is the fact
that every team mem-
ber at some point and
time had at least 3
strikes. They also had
the most diversi-
fied age group.
And in the final
analysis, Bro
Frazier’s team
captured the
championship
game! We saluted
them with arm
bands, a champi-
onship title, and
of course the
championship
photo.
Bro. Frazier, along
with a guest named
Danny, maintained the
highest bowling
scores. The men had a
great fellowship and a
lot of fun. We ended
with a prayer thanking
God.

to thank all of you who
came out to bowl, and
we would like to en-
courage all of the boys

event.
Our next event is the
2011 Men’s Week-
end. On Saturday May
21st, the Men’s Fel-
lowship Committee is
hosting a Basketball
game at the Martin
Luther King Jr. Multi-
purpose Center. We
will play ball from
10:30 am to 12:30 pm.
So bring your friends,
your family, and your
A-game!
The Men’s Weekend
will continue into the
Sunday Morning Wor-
ship Service on May
22nd. At that time, the
newly formed Men’s
Choir will sing praises
unto the Lord. If you
are interested in join-
ing the Men’s Choir,
please see Brother
Jeffrey Madison.
She has been
described as a
whirlwind,
though humbly
she came, Helen
Miller was a gos-
pel singing dy-
namo! “Reared in
Boynton Beach,
Florida, her love
for singing to the
glory of God be-
gan when she
rendered her first
solo at the tender
age of 4. Through this dynamic singing gift,
God has touched many lives as this Psalmist
demonstrates what it means to be blessed
with the gift and passion to sing God’s
praises.”
Whether you like old school, new school, or
no school at all, Helen Miller left Compas-
sionate Outreach Ministries singing and lean-
ing on Him. The entire congregation leaned
to the left, or leaned to the right, exemplify-
ing how we should “Lean” on Christ. She
brought a powerful musical message of faith
and love through her songs. She revitalized
the church hymnal and brought us back to the
time when we were children, going to church
with our parents or grandparents; when we
didn't download gospel songs from Youtube;
when we read the words and sang the songs
with the chords and notes listed clearly in our
grandmothers' hymnal. What a wonderful joy
to know Christ in song, in word, and in ex-
pression. The service was compelling and our
spirits danced in reverence and homage to the
Lord of ALL.

Don’t let anything slow you down from serving
the Lord, or distract you from the cause of His
love. There are many things that can cause your
mind to drift away from God. This includes
hobbies, sports, television, computers, and
games. These things may start off as recreational
activities, but they can later take up so much of
our time and thoughts that they interfere with the
purpose for which God has created us. Our pur-
pose is to share the good news of Christ, to serve
Him with our gifts, and to bring glory to Him.
This is why we ought not get entangled with this
world’s affairs. We have to be free to please
Him. If your desire is to please the Lord Jesus,
then you will want to stay untangled from the
world. The world is passing away and the lust of
the flesh is too. But he who does the will of God
abides forever. Let us stay with the Lord. That is
my prayer for every born-again Christian.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE
2011 GRADUATING CLASS Keep Up The Good Work!
The L.U.V. Fellowship dinner took place at the Downtown
Library Meeting Room. This was the first L.U.V Fellowship
event that I have attended since joining Compassionate Out-
reach Ministries about two and a half years ago. Each person
was greeted with love upon walking in the door. Afterwards,
Bishop Dennison briefly spoke with everyone and we began
the evening. The L.U.V. Fellowship Committee introduced
themselves and expressed gratitude for everyone’s attendance
that evening. After everyone introduced themselves, we
blessed the food, and ate a delicious meal. Before we knew it, it was time for the evening to come to a close. It was great to
meet young adults at the dinner who I may not have otherwise known and to see the L.U.V. Fellowship Committee plan events
and opportunities for young adult fellowship. I’m looking forward to the next L.U.V. Fellowship event!

who attended the event to give their lives to Christ. The
5th Ave Arts Festival is a two-
day celebration of the rich Afri-

passionate Angels danced to the
glory of God and the Men’s En-

of Kings. Then, Bishop Dennison preached a powerful word
about the two thieves that may be in one’s life. An altar call
was made and the C.O.M. ministers prayed with and for
those who heeded the call. At the conclusion of the service, Bishop Dennison was

We Are Reaching Out,
Not Out Of Reach
Pace Center For Girls
On March 12, 2011 at 11:30 am,
Compassionate Outreach Ministries
joined a multitude of women from
all over Gainesville, representatives
from various organizations, and an
array of local residents to attend the
Annual Fundraiser Luncheon for the
PACE Center for Girls. The PACE Center for Girls provides a
delinquency prevention program which targets the unique needs of
females aged 12 to 18 who are identified as truant, runaway, delin-
quent, or in need of academic skills. This year’s fundraiser, which
netted $9000.00, was held at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and the
Mistress of Ceremonies was the Chair of the PACE Board, Mrs.
Nona Jones. The attire was casual-semi-dressy, as if attending a
tea party. The young ladies participating in the program treated
the guests to a fashion show and thanked the audience for all their
support. The most moving aspect of the luncheon was hearing
from one of the girls about how much her life had been touched
and changed by her experiences at PACE. She thanked the Direc-
tor and the staff for changing her life. Her testimony truly blessed
and moved us! We don’t often realize how far a little love can go.
Attending this luncheon was an opportunity to be reminded of the
impact of love, caring and compassion. We are Compassionate
Outreach Ministries and we care!
Sunday School at Compassionate Outreach Ministries is a class setting that is conducive for learning, asking ques-
tions, sharing opinions, and sharing testimonies. There are several different classes in our church: there is the children’s class,
the teenagers’ class, the adult women’s class, the adult men’s class, the mothers’ class, and on some occasions there will be a
combined adult class at the discretion of our Sunday School Coordinator, Prophetess Rawls.
While reflecting on the importance of Sunday School, I remember that Hebrews 5:13-14 states, “For everyone that
uses milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness; for he is a babe. But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age even
those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” The writer in this particular text uses
the analogy of feasting on the word of God and eating natural food.
Similarly, I think of Sunday School as an opportunity to a have spiri-
tual breakfast. Our Sunday School starts at 9:00 am and we generally
open by singing a congregational song and then prayer. Brother
Bivens is quite instrumental in opening our services, designating
which teachers teach each class, making sure the secretaries have their
supplies, ensuring that Sunday school books are distributed, and let
me not forget to mention ringing the bell to mark the end of the class.
There are new lessons taught every Sunday morning. We have some wonderful teachers and I am never bored. Our teach-
ers share lessons which come from the word of God with wisdom, enthusiasm, and the anointing. What an inspirational way
to start your Sunday morning! Sunday School generally lasts for one hour. We know that our souls are refreshed by the les-
sons that are taught on Sunday morning, and we are highly appreciative of the parishioners who are so faithful. It is my per-
sonal ambition to encourage all of our members and guests of all ages to come to Sunday School as often as you can. After
Sunday School, we are spiritually charged up for the morning worship services.
Historically, Sunday School has been an important aspect of religious education. The Bible was often used as the
text book to learn to read. Many children copied passages from the bible and that’s how they learned to write. They were
taught Christian morality, prayers, and hymns. Sunday school pupils often graduated to become Sunday school teachers there
by gaining experience in leadership not to be found elsewhere in their lives. I would personally like to see everyone of our
members in Sunday School. Come Grow With Us!
