Internal Measuring System (IMS) main-tains endmill quality over a long production run without human intervention

Compares measured tool values with nominal values to calculate offsets for wheel wear. Maintains tool accuracies in the range of +/- 0.0003” on diameter and fl ute depth and +/- 1° on rake angle. Auto-loader for up to 504 tools

The optional integrated loader automatically loads and unloads up to 504 tools, paving the way for multiple-shift operation with minimal manning. Plus you can prepare, program, and install up to two new pallets while the machine grinds tools from the “in process” pallet. This maximizes productive machine time for improved profitability. (The number of pallets you can use depends on tool length.) Choose from a “classic” gripper system with three smaller diameter ranges and a high capacity or a “one-range” system that handles tools from 1/8 to 1” in diameter without changing grippers. Tool change takes only seconds, because one gripper pair removes the finished tool and and a second pair loads a new blank into the workhead on the same trip into the machine. The grippers travel back and forth on a rigid cross slide, allowing for fast yet accurate handling. You can program the vertical pickup point for each tool in a pallet in any sequence to accommodate different tool lengths, flute lengths, tool types or chuck mounting positions. You can also program the loader either at the machine or on an office PC using an Excel spreadsheet.

Automatic shank-steadyrest minimizes deflection

A new hydraulic shank-steadyrest fully encapsulates the tool shank in a precision “V” bushing. This maintains a high degree of concentricity and reduces deflection to a minimum, which is particularly important on longer tools.

The double gripper shortens the cycles as the tool blank and finished tool can be changed in the same position.
