For more than 144 years, the YMCA of Middle Tennessee has been guided by its Christian mission and values to strengthen the foundations of our community

and nurture the potential of the men, women and children who call the greater Nashville area home. As a leading nonprofit dedicated to meeting community

needs, we engage people across 8 counties, giving more than 220,000 of our neighbors – more than a third of

them kids – the chance to learn, grow and thrive.

The Heritage Club is a very special group of people who have made plans to support YMCA of Middle Tennessee

programs and initiatives through planned giving (a bequest, a charitable remainder trust, a life insurance policy or by other means). When caring and dedicated people come together to build the YMCA’s endowment,

amazing things are accomplished!

YMCA friends and supporters may contribute to the YMCA’s endowment in several ways. Each of these methods of support has varied estate or income tax benefits that can result in a gift to the YMCA being considerably larger than the after-tax costs to you.

If you so desire, you may designate your gift for the benefit of a particular center’s or program’s endowment. Each YMCA center, and many programs, have an account in the endowment fund and receive income each year to support their work. Your membership in the Heritage Club helps ensure that the YMCA will continue to be a positive influence for our children and our community. Additionally, Heritage Club members are invited to an annual dinner in recognition of their commitment to the future of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee.

WILLS AND BEQUESTSA gift to the YMCA of Middle Tennessee by will permits you to retain all your assets during your life and/or the life of your loved one. Designations may be for a percent of your estate or for a specified amount.

YMCA GIFT ANNUITYIn return for tax deductible contributions, the YMCA pays a fixed income for life to the donor and/or the donor’s loved one. Normally a sizeable portion of income is tax free, and the return on your investment is not only guaranteed but often better than the stock market.

CHARITABLE TRUSTSA charitable trust can provide lifetime income to you and your loved one. Thereafter, the trust principal will go to the YMCA’s endowment fund. You may name other charities as principal recipients as well.

LIFE INSURANCEWhen the added protection of an insurance policy is no longer needed, transferring the policy’s ownership to the YMCA can result in tax benefits for you and a generous gift to the Y.

CHARITABLE LEAD TRUSTSA charitable lead trust may be appropriate if you have ample income now, but desire to retain ownership of the trust principal to meet future financial goals for your family. Income will be directed to the YMCA’s endowment for the specified term of the trust, after which time the principal will return to you or designated survivors.

BENEFICIARY DESIGNATIONSRevocable provisions naming the YMCA of Middle Tennessee as a beneficiary of your life insurance, qualified IRAs, pension plans, or bank accounts are flexible, meaningful ways to establish an endowment contribution.

The YMCA of Middle Tennessee is happy to provide you with additional information on these opportunities. We also encourage you to consult with your legal and tax advisors.

The Joe C. Davis YMCA Outdoor Center provides campers an opportunity to develop as leaders for our community who are grounded in important lifelong values such as caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Through the Campership Program, a gift of $10,000 endows a day-camp scholarship, and a gift of $25,000 endows a resident-camp scholarship so that young men and women will have the opportunity to interact with caring role models, strengthen confidence, forge friendships, and sharpen character.

A highlight of the annual Celebration of Philanthropy dinner is the presentation of the prestigious H.G. Hill, Jr. Philanthropic Award. To perpetuate the memory of noted philanthropist and YMCA leader H.G. Hill, Jr., the YMCA of Middle Tennessee and the H.G. Hill Company created an award in 1995 to recognize those who support the YMCA of Middle and other community organizations.
