The continuing success and critical acclaim generated

by Hennie Niemann Jnr's annual online auctions have

reinforced the artist's decision to sell his new paintings

by auction. He has produced 20 oil paintings during the

past 12 months, and art lovers will once again have the

opportunity to acquire these works through the fair and

practical auction process.

Hennie is very aware of the high expectations of his

supporters, and is continuously developing and refining his

technique and stylistic approach in order to produce artworks

of the highest quality. The paintings on offer include examples

of Hennie's longstanding fascination with the human form,

as well as his prowess in constructing his typically colourful

and well balanced interior and still life compositions. The artist

always enjoys introducing new subject matter to his oeuvre,

and once again there are a number of these bold, somewhat

experimental works included. This varied selection of paintings

is testament to Hennie's exceptional talent, as well as his

ability to capture and communicate the essence of what

fascinates him.

Conditions of sale1. All buyers are requested to complete a bidding form.

Bidding forms can be found at the back on the catalogue,

can be downloaded from our website, or will be supplied on

request. Completed forms can be submitted manually, by

e-mail or by fax.

2. Reserve prices for the paintings are indicated on the

website and in the catalogue. The current highest online

bids will be displayed on the website as soon as they have

been received.

3. Buyers are welcome to leave commission bids, with

instructions regarding bidding increments. Such bidders

will be notified every time a higher bid is logged during the

online phase.

4. All online bidders still active on Friday, 12 April, will be

phoned to participate in the live bidding which will start at

12h00 on Saturday, 13 April.

5. No additional buyer’s premium is charged, but 14% VAT will

be added to the winning bid.

6. All paintings will remain the property of the artist until paid

for in full.

7. Shipping charges for delivery outside of Johannesburg or

Cape Town will be for the account of the buyer.

8. Johans Borman Fine Art undertakes to conduct this auction

process in a fair and transparent manner. Should any

dispute arise, it will be resolved at our absolute discretion.

Hennie Niemann Jnr

1972 Born in Bloemfontein to Magriet and Hennie Niemann.

1980 - 89 Moved to Vermont where he was introduced to art at a very early age. Under the tuition of his artist father, Hennie Niemann Snr., and Gregoire Boonzaier, he began sketching in bistre.

1990 After matriculating from Hermanus High School, Hennie's military service afforded him a year in the Kruger National Park. It was there, surrounded by the bushveld, that his love of nature and wildlife was nurtured.

1991 - 92 Drawing on this new found source of inspiration, Hennie returned to Vermont and started his artistic career. His bistre sketches and expressionistic oils reflected his intense affinity with the interactions of the wild.

1993 His first exhibition of drawings was a sell-out.

1994 - 96 Met Angela Key who shared his passion for painting and wildlife. Together they set up a permanent studio in Vermont from where they made frequent safaris and visited many game parks and nature reserves throughout Southern Africa, resulting in a highly successful exhibition of their works at the Onrus Galerie in September 1996.

1997 Exhibition with Angela Key at The Cherie de Villiers Fine Art Gallery, Rosebank, Johannesburg. Donated a painting to a WWF auction for the protection of endagered species.

1998 Exhibition at Onrus Galerie at the Marine, Hermanus.

2000 ‘Triptych’ Exhibition with Angela Key and Wehrner Lemmer at Johans Borman Fine Art Gallery, Cape Town.

2002 Traveled to Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia to collect reference material for paintings. Invited to show at the ‘Exhibition of Contemporary South African Art’ in Chelsea, London, where his paintings sold out.

2002 - 05 Participated in group exhibitions at Stellenbosch Art Gallery and Art and Wine gallery, Clarens.

2006 First solo exhibition of oil paintings at Johans Borman Fine Art Gallery, Cape Town.

2008 Solo exhibition of oil paintings at Johans Borman Fine Art Gallery, Cape Town.
