About the Staff . . . PAUL S. HOFFMAN

Scenic Designer Paul Hoffman has designed scenery and light-

ing for many productions a t Milwaukee's Swan Theatre including Light Up The Sky with Willia= Bendix. The Moon Is Blue with Jack Kelly, The Pleasure Of H i s Company with Linda Darnel1 and Critic's Choice with Dennis O'Keefe. Mr. Hoffman was a scenic artist a t the famous Berkshire Play- house; he has also been associated with the Hawk- hill Playhoue in Wisconsin While worklng on his MFA in theatre a t Ohio University. he was a graduate assistant in technical theatre. Paul will be dssigning the scenery :his 3.1mmer beginning with Dracula and throughout the season closing with I rma La Douce.

Harriet Leigh has appeared on Broadway as an actress and dancer in Firs t Impressions with Hermione Gingold, Rodger and Hammerstein'a Me And Jzrliet and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. T V audiences have seen her work on Voice of Fire- stone and in stock, she has ap eared a8 Maggie in Brigadoon. Maisie in The J o y Friend. Any- body's in ,West Side Story and Maggie in Cat On A Hot Tln Roof, among many other roles. Off- Broadway. she has choreographed Come Morning, Streets of Confusion. Oedipus Rex and Wizard of Or. Miss Leigh has been choreographer and di- rector a t theatres such as Town and Country in Rochester, N. Y. and the Red Barn in Saugatuck, Michigan.

Mr. Schlesinger served a s stage manager and actor a t Mr. Little's spring season of Piccolo Play- house in Joliet. Mr. Schlesinger brings with him an impressive background of classical roles such as Brendel in Rosmersbolm. Sally Gifft i s another new addition to the Little Theatre's staff this season. This past winter. Miss Giff , '~ costumes have been viewed off-Broadway in p-oductions of B y Ju iter. The Servants of Two Masters and Suddenly f a s t Summer. Last summer a t The Front Theatre in Memphis, she created the costumes for My Fa i r Lady. Damn Yankees and The Country Wife. At the new Morris Theatre in N. J.. Sally has just completed work on The Im- aginary Invalid. Miss Gifft received her BFA a t Cornell University and was on the staff there a s costume designer from 1959 to 1961. The many off- Broadway productions for which uhe has designed the costumer .include The Awakening of Spring. Billygoat Eddre. Pla in and Fancy, God, Man And You. Baby. The Magic Flute and The Devil's Dis- ciple.

BILL HUDNET and VlNCE DE DARlO

Mr. Hudnet and Mr. De Dario spent their first aeason in Sullivan last summer and joined Mr. Little for the opening of Piccolo Playhouse this

as t February in Joliet. A tormer atudent a t the 6 niversity of Maryland, Mr. Hudnet hails from Baltimore. He has ap eared a t various theatres in the Washington. D. 8. area and was featured in The Happiest Years with David Nelson and in Love And Klsses with the Pat O'Briena this winter a t Piccolo Playhouse. Mr. De Darlo i s a native of Indiana. but received his theatre education a t the Pasadena Playhouse in California. Vince spent a summer a t the Perry Manafield School in Colorado and had three years of little theatre work while in the army. His roles have included Mike in Sunday I n New York, Luke in Look Homeward, Angel and Freddie in Love And Kisses with the O'Briens.

As assistants to Mr. Little. Bill and Vince are involved with box office. promotion, props. and scenery, costuming, casting. advertising, and general office work. Later this searon, Bill will tour a s Hero in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Vince will tour with Mr. Little's production of I r m l a Dmuce.

Producer Guy S. Little. Jr. became interested in theatre when he was fire yeara old m d saw a touring production of The M e w Widen. When he was sixteen, he won a scholarship to the Knne. New Hunpmhire Theatre and made his debut there in 1951. fa l9IZ and 1953 ha returned to the East to appear at the Gateway Yurical Playhouse n u r Atlantic City. He received his B.A. degree in 1954 from the University of Y h m i with a major in drama. While in the Miami area he appeared a t The Ring Theatre in leading roles in S o 4 d Nerray and June And The Payeock and sang wlth the Miami Opers Ouild In support of Metropolitan Opera stars. Guy spent two y u n in New York studying at the American Theatre Wing and tak- ing graduate work at Columbia University. In 1957 he returned to hia native SuUivy and opened The Little Theatre-On The Square which is the only professional theatre between the Chicago area and - St. Louis. During the past eight summer seasons. Mr. Little has presented over seventy musicals ranging from OU*bom*! to My Fu'r Lady in addi- tion to plays featuring such stars as Joe E. Brown. Marjorie Lard, Margaret T ~ m a n . Pat O'Brien. Eddie Bracken. Edward Everett Horton, Peter Pal- mer, Margaret Whiting. Linda Darnell, Marie Wil- son. David Nelson and Rosemary Prinz. Last sum- mer. Mr. Little presented a successful touriw pro- duction of Stop The World-I Warn To Get Off and this season, he has booked his productions of A Funny T h h ~ Happened On The Way h Tbe Forum and Irma La Douce throughout the colmtry. The Piccolo Playhouse in Joliet where Mr. Little opened a spring season this past March was an outstanding success and will respen in early July and continue on a year-round basim. Guy met his wife, Je r i l i -a Chicago girl. 3n Miami when they - both were studying theatre. They have been mar- ried eleven years and have two children, Vanessa who is nine and Sean who is three.

John Kelso returns for his fifth summer in Sullivm after directing the premiere season of The Piccolo Playhouse in Joliet. II. began hie theatrical career at the age of five with a song and dance act and later toured with his o m full scale made show. Little's theatre in Sullivan. and in the summer of 1959 managed to play 18 characters in ten Lhows. The following muter found him in St. Louis, where he joined the staff of the famed Crystal Palace in Gaslight Squerr During eeveral winter and summer seasons there, he appeared in a variety of role& was in charge of production for A Curious Eveniw with Gyp- Roar b e , a night club series featuring Jack B Leonard and Irwin Corey, and etagod revues featuring Barbrs S tn ismd end The Smothers Brothers. For the past nveral yeers he has re- turned to the Little T h e a m from New York. where he has been on the s t a t of Equity Library Theatre and The New York Shakespeare Festival in Cm- trel Park. In Sullivan, he has appeared as Hines in Pajama Game, Aii Hekim in Oklahoma!, Sol Sch- wartr in The Tender Trap, and The Mayor in The M u s k Maa, and has directed Edward Everett Hor- ton, Linda Damell. Mr. and Mrs. Pat O'Brien. Rosemary Prinr. Peter Palmer, David Nelson and June Blair, and Ann B. Davis.

. . . Who's Who in the Cast BLIA MEADE (Doris Walker) was born in i oston and grew up in Ridgewood. New Jeruey.

where she went to high mchool before enrolling in the Yale School of Drams. In 1953 she war invited ta do a commercial on the Ed Sullivan Show. She did them continuous1 from that date until February. 1962. While sKe found her work as one of the most sought-after deliverers of commercials both pleasant and profitable. Miss Meade's heart has alwsys been with the legiti- mate theatre. and in February 1962 she noti- fied her T V sponsors that she was not renew- in,? her contract.

In July of that year Miss Meade replaced Barbara Be1 Geddes in the Broadway production of Jean Kerr's Mary, Mary. She then utarred in the National Company which mettled in Chi- car0 for a ten month run concluding June 15. 1963. Her performance as Maw earned her the coveted Szrah Siddon's Award as the best actress to play CZtlcago during the 1962-63 season.

On Broad-y &a has been featured in The Trmier Trap and in Romar Candle. and was starred in Dcruble In Hearts. In motion pictures ahe has appeared in PrJlow Talk, T a m j . Tell Me True and Zotx.

Last ' August the Caricaturists Society of America voted G l i a Meade one of "The Ten Most Beautiful omen in The World.

MICHAEL KANTER (Kris Kringte) makes his Sullivan debut as Kris Kringle in Here's Love but elsewhere, he has made hia mark in the theatre world. As an actor. singer and an- nouncer he has worked on most of the Chicaqo radio stations since 1928 and has appeared rn many industrial films in ths C h i c a ~ o area. In 1951 he produced m d staged the Ekco Theatre of Suspense on WBKB. He has appeared, in roductiolzs of Panny, Damn Yankres. No Ttme k or Sergeants and T i m Limit with such stars

as John Garfield. Burgess Meredith, Betsy Pal- mer and Shelley Berman.

RICHARD STAPELMANN (Fred Gajly) appeared at The Lrttle Theatre for the first tlme two seasons ago in Carnival and The Unsink- able Molly Brown Born in Chicaga, Dick start- ed his career in summer stock with the New York City Center Opera Company during their Chicago seasons. He went on to perform with the Lyrie Opera Com any of Chicago and toured through 43 mtates an$ Canada. Hi' musical ex-

HAL PRANK (Jud e Martin Group) who has appeared .in ~ r a o u f a . Bus Stop and Mistar Roberts as a versatile man with talents ranging from guitar playing to an actin as a radio leprechaun. In the middle o f tg: spectrum are four solid years of professional stock, commercials and voice-dubbing work all over the United States and Japan. In the past Mr. Frank has worked with ruck stars a s Jeanne Craine in Tbe Philadelpbra Story. Marie Wilson in Solid Gold Cadt!lrc and both Peter Palmer and Guy Mi.tehel1 m Guys And Dolfs.
