    has a big history.

    It was continuously inhabited since the 6th

    century BC. It has served as a capital of

    various kingdoms and empires.

    Delhi connects with a heart with a very famous phrase Dilli hai dilwalon ki Dilli. Dilli is in Hindustani language. Delhi has very popular tourist places which are rich with its history, architecture and culture.

  • Red Fort was constructed by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1648 as the palace of his fortified capital Shahjahnabad. It is located in the centre of Delhi and houses a number of

    museums. It is built by red sandstones. Its major

    structures are Chawari Bazar, Lahori Gate, Delhi

    Gate, Chhatta Chowk, Naubat Khana, Diwan-i-

    Aam, Mumtaz Mahal, Rang Mahal, Khas Mahal,

    Diwan-i-Khas, Baoli, Shahi Burj, Hayat Bakhsh

    Bagh, Princes quarter, etc.

    Every year on Independence Day, 15

    August, Prime Minister of India hoists the

    Tiranga (tricolor) national flag at the main gate of Red Fort and delivers a nationally

    broadcast speech from its ramparts.

    Humayus Tomb is commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in the 156970,he was the son of former Mughal Emperor Humayu. Qutub Minar was built by Qutub-UD-Din-Aibak in 1200 CE.

    He was the founder of the Delhi Sultanate. Qutab Minar is 120 meters tallest brick minarety in the world and second tallest minar in India after Fateh Burj in Mahroli. It is surrounded by the several ancient and medieval monuments.

    Purana Quila is the oldest fort in Delhi. It is situated on the banks of Yamuna river,

    was constructed by the Pandavas as

    Indraprastha 5000 years ago, during the

    Indus Valley Civilization. The current

    structure of Purana Quila was built by the

    founder of the Suri dynasty Sher Shah Suri. He defeated Mughal Emperor Humayu in

    1540, and named it Purana Quila.

    It is built by red sandstones and marbles. It is five storey minar (building).
