Hermann Samuel Reimarus: professor of oriental languages at the University of Hamburg in Germany. He wrote in secret some 4000 pages subjected to higher criticism of bible. His work was published in seven fragments by his friend Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, several years after his death. The last fragment, The Aims of Jesus and His Disciples, published in 1778, presented Jesus as a failed Jewish revolutionary whose dead body was stolen from his tomb by his disciples in order to spread the story of his resurrection. Venkateswar steam press edition of the Bhavisya Purana printed in Bombay in 1829 and reprinted by Nag Publishers in 2003 is the most complete version available, containing all the main features of the four manuscripts.
