Education
Akshaya Vidya: The ‘Akshaya Vidya’ programme which provides holistic education to the
children in slum areas with a view to change their life by inculcating good values and self-
image in the society is progressing smoothly in all the 60 centres located in the slum areas
of Visakhapatnam (20 centres), Hyderabad (25 centres) and YSR Kadapa (15 centres)
Districts through the Ekalavya Foundation. To ascertain the progress of the programme
CSR officials visited the tutor’s orientation programme at Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad
and interacted with tutors as well as the students.
Arunodaya Special School: As a part of the Children’s Day celebration a cultural activities
like drawing, painting and dance programmes were organized in the school with a view to
encourage the children to showcase their talents. In addition to the above Medical camp,
Physiotherapy camp, study trips to Hirawath tailoring factory, Aircraft of Indian Navy etc.
were organized for the benefit of the students during the month.
‘Siksha’: With a view that ‘Education is a key enabler to social change’, RINL is providing
quality education to 1600 students belonging to BPL families from the surrounding villages
of Plant and Mines.

Chethana’: Adult literacy course completion certificates were awarded to 50 beneficiaries
who have successfully completed the 6 months Adult Literacy Programme Murabai a
surrounding village of the plant. Through the programme, 625 beneficiaries of 25 centres
have acquired knowledge in reading & writing Telugu and doing basic arithmetic like
addition & subtraction.
Health Care
Mid-day meal to School Children: Shri. Kishore Chandra Das, Director (Personnel), RINL
inaugurated the Mid-day meal programme taken up as a CSR initiative to mitigate hunger
and malnutrition among the poor and needy children of the Visakha Vimala Vidyalayams
at Ukkunagaram and Pedagantyada. Under the project hot and healthy meals is being
provided to the identified children of the schools for a period of one year through The
Akshaya Patra Foundation. Director (Personnel) served the food to the children and along
with other senior officials of RINL also shared the lunch with the children. More than 900
poor students of both the schools are benefitted from the above programme

Skill Development
Skill Development of persons affected by Leprosy / Disability: Leprosy is a Neglected
Tropical Disease which affects the poorest of the poor and leads to loss of sensation,
degeneration of skin and eventually paralysis. Leprosy affected people experience the
deep-rooted discrimination by society on accessing equal opportunities for education,
employment and inclusion, thus pushing them deeper into poverty and exclusion. RINL
with a view to support the leprosy affected people and towards empowering them to earn
a decent lively hood, has taken up a project for providing one year institute-based
residential Vocational Training to 25 (Twenty Five) leprosy affected children and women.
To this extent, RINL has inked a MoU with The Leprosy Mission Trust India (TLMTI) a
non-governmental organization in India aiming to make healing, inclusion and dignity a
reality for people affected by leprosy, people with disabilities, and marginalized
communities, especially women.
Sanitation
Bala Swachhta Jagruthi: Sanitation awareness programmes were conducted at Mandal
Praja Parishad Schools at Sanivada and Upparala Colony of Visakhapatnam district. The
importance of personal hygiene, cleanliness and risks of single use plastic were explained
to around 100 students who were covered in the above programme.

Swachh Vidyalaya: Maintenance of toilets constructed in 32 schools under “Swachh
Vidyalaya” has been taken up through Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) Govt. of AP. To ensure
proper maintenance of the same CSR officials are making periodic visits to the schools.
Swachh Bharat activities were carried out in various Departments of VSP during the
Month. Daily Reports on “Swachh Bharat” Campaign received from plant areas are
compiled and sent to Ministry of Steel (MOS)

‘Safai Pakhwada’: Fortnight long intensive cleaning drives were organized in the Medical
Department during first fortnight and Mines Department including outstation Mines of RINL
during the second fortnight of November 2019 respectively.
