This year we have extended the period for Year 11 students to study and revise in school with the support of subject staff until Friday 15th June 2018. Many students have benefited from intensive, pre-examination revision sessions, which they have reported to be both confidence-boosting and helpful. We intend to allow Year 11 students to begin their leave from 1.30pm Friday 15th June 2018. Please ensure that your son/daughter/ward has a copy of the examination timetable and reports for any remaining examinations 15 minutes prior to the start time. There will be subject specific master class sessions prior to some examinations. Please check the school website and our newsletter for updates. On Friday 15th June, there will be a leaver’s assembly for all Year 11 students to attend before they are dismissed at lunchtime. GCSE exam results will be available on Thursday 23rd August 2018 and further details will follow. Finally, may I take this opportunity of wishing all of our Year 11 students the very best of luck for their results this summer. I look forward to seeing them on results day. Mr Bellamy Please find below information regarding the examinations. Please note that some PM exams have changed from 1.30pm to 1pm. All exams will be held in the Sports Hall apart from those students with access arrangements. These will mainly be in S4 but may also be allocated to other rooms. Please refer to individual timetable, which will update with any amendments "real time" on Moodle. A number of students may have clashes and these have been addressed and e-mailed home with amended individual timetables. Please ask students to refer to individual timetable for roomings and timings. Seating plans will be displayed in the gym on the day of the exam with seat numbers and students will be called from the gym into the Sports Hall by seat number. This will only be applicable for any exams in the Sports Hall. Students based in other rooms will be seated by the invigilators. Any students in S4 room will be asked to remove their phones from bags, switch off and place in a basket, their bags can then be placed inside the room at the front. This will eliminate any problems outside the room with bags. Early lunches will be on for PM exams from 12.30pm with some basic supplies (sandwiches, etc). Some examinations may finish after the school day, please arrange alternative transport home on this occasion. Please ask students to bring ONLY water into the exam room in a clear water bottle with the label removed. Also please ensure that all students are FULLY equipped for all examinations as we cannot always ensure that we have enough supplies to hand out. If you require any further information please contact [email protected]

6th FORM Year 13/14 students Students that are sitting only vocational subjects will be expected to stay in school until Thursday 28th June. If staff are happy that students have completed their course to the required standard, then the student will need to liaise with a member of the 6th Form Team so that we can monitor who needs to be in school and make alternative arrangements for students who have finished. Please ensure students are in school until 28th June. Students following a blended curriculum of A level and vocational subjects need to liaise with the 6th Form Team. It may be that a student has completed their BTEC course and could have extra home based sessions or extra directed study. Students completing A level courses; there are far fewer exams in the summer season prior to half term than ever before. As a result, students will be asked to come into school after half term for their lessons. We foresee the weeks after half term to be revision sessions in normal lesson time and directed study will continue to be available. Students need to ensure that they are appropriately dressed in smart office wear for all examinations. On Thursday 28th June students will have the opportunity to come into school between 10.30am – 12.00pm to say ‘farewell’ to everyone at Hilbre! The 6th Form Team, Senior Leadership Team and 6th Form Tutors will meet with students in the 6th Form Block for refreshments and we hope to get a photograph of all the year group together. We would like to take this opportunity to encourage all our students to continue to work hard in their studies, doing all that they can to achieve examination grades that reflect their ability and ensure their potential is reached.
