For our vacation my family decided to go to

Hawaii because we love beaches and volcanoes.

My whole family went including my Dad, Mom and baby sister Jane. And me, I’m Joe. When we got there we met an old surfer dude named Charlie who offered to be our guide.

Charlie was a wild looking guy, with blue hair and bug eyes but the coolest thing about him was that he had a magical surfboard that could fly. He promised to take us volcano surfing.

But first we had to get some surf boards.

“Look at that” said Dad, “What a cool store. I’ll bet we could buy some surfboards there.”

When Jane looked at the store she asked. “Do you think we can get flying surfboards there?”

Mom answered, “I heard that Hilo Hattie is a sorcereress –I’m sure she sells magic boards. Let’s go in and see.”

When we entered Hilo Hattie’s we knew right away that it was a magical place! It was filled with all kinds of beautiful flowers that were swirling around Hilo Hattie in rhythm to a musical incantation that she was chanting in a sing song kind of voice.

When Hilo Hattie saw us she asked what we wanted and my Dad told her we wanted to buy some flying surfboards so that we could go lava surfing.

“The evil witch doctor has taken all my magic surf boards” Hattie replied. “ If you want them you must travel to his hide out on top of the Mauna Loa volcano. But be careful if he captures you he will steal your brain.”

So we all got on Charlie’s flying surfboard and set off for the Mauna Loa volcano. The heat from the lava was intense and when it spouted up Jane fell of the board and was captured by one of the evil Witch Doctors lava beasts.

The lava monster ran off with Jane in his fiery grasp into the belching volcano and we could hear her screaming all the way.

“Don’t worry”, Charlie said. “I have an idea. I’ll be right back.” And then he flew off on his board. When he returned he was riding on the crest of a huge wave. It was like the wave was following his magic board. He rode the wave right to the top of the volcano and put it out.

When the volcano was put out we found Jane floating on a surf board and there were three more boards floating next to her. So we all got on a magic board and went lava surfing.
