Listed on the National Register of Historic places, the Mansion is Naper Settlement’s premier showcase and will be adorned in holiday splendor with help from the Naperville Garden Club. History Speaks Lecture Series: Mrs. Claus Wed., December 14, 7–8 p.m. Century Memorial Chapel Non-Members: $10/adult; $9/youth (4-12), students Members: $8/adult; $7/youth (4-12), students Everyone has heard about Mr. Santa Claus. He is the most famous overachiever in the world. But who is Mrs. Claus? She was first revealed as a character in a book written by Katherine Lee Bates in 1899. Mrs. Claus will tell it all: the ups and downs of her marriage, her (two) identity crises, the dramatic lives of reindeer and how she found love, joy and the spirit of Christmas with the man in the red velvet suit. Recommended for ages 15 & up. History Speaks Lecture Series: Bartholdi and His Lady of Copper Sun., January 8, 4–5 p.m. Century Memorial Chapel Non-Members: $10/adult $9/youth (4-12) and students Members: $8/adult $7/youth (4-12) and students French sculptor, Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, wanted to produce a work of colossal proportions to express his love of liberty – a statue that would be a gift from the French people to America. The statue of Liberty was Bartholdi’s greatest achievement. This stunning presentation features the illustrations of award winning Artist/Presenter, Jim Weren.
