Before Mass:
Please wash your hands before leaving home. There will be limited restroom facilities for use in the church (facilities in the lower church will not be available).
Consider bringing a travel-size container of hand sanitizer or hand wipes with you.
All members of the congregation need to wear masks, with the following exceptions:
Children under the age of two should not wear masks. Parents should judge for children between the ages of two and five whether they should wear a mask. All people who claim an exemption because of health can forego wearing a mask. They do not have to provide documentation.
The priest and ministers do not need to wear masks while in the sanctuary and while maintaining strict socially distancing. They will, however, wear masks when assisting with the distribution of Holy Communion.
Entering the Church:
Be prepared to maintain social distancing protocols of 6-ft separation while entering, sitting, and exiting the church.
Church doors will be open 15 minutes before Mass is scheduled to begin.
Enter St. Irene’s Church for Mass from the main entrance doors only.
Enter St. Bernard’s Church (Holy Family Parish) for Mass from the parking lot side doors only.
Ushers will be present to assist in seating. Seating is limited to insure proper social distancing (6-ft apart in all directions). Families and those living in the same household can sit together. Some rows and areas will be blocked o6 as 6-ft distancing is required.
Collection baskets will be available at the entrance to the church. However, we strongly encourage you to make your o6erings of financial support to the parish and its mission using online platforms such as “We Share” (Holy Family) and “E-Giving”””” (St. Irene) available on the parish websites.
Ask the Holy Spirit for a disposition of faith and peace to enter into the Mass.
During Mass:
 Pray along with the Mass.
There will be no processions, altar servers or congregational singing during the Mass.
A bow or gesture should replace a handshake or other physical signs of peace/greeting during the liturgy.
Receiving Communion and Leaving the Church
Holy Communion will be distributed at the end of Mass once the priest and Communion Minister are in place. Communion will be o6ered by means of the Consecrated Host only.
Ushers will provide assistance and directions for maintaining social distancing protocols for those receiving Holy Communion.
Some people may decide not to receive Holy Communion and that decision is to be honored and respected.
Communicants will receive the consecrated host in their hand, step to the side, lower their mask, consume the host, replace their mask, and leave the church. Gloves cannot be worn while receiving Holy Communion....
Please be mindful to not come into physical contact with the priest or Communion Minister while receiving Holy Communion. If contact is made, the priest/Communion Minister will need to purify and sanitize their hands before continuing to distribute Holy Communion.
After Mass:
Please do not gather in the church entrance but continue to maintain social distancing as you exit the building. Do not congregate outside but head directly to your vehicle.
Please exit promptly to allow volunteers to sanitize the church.
We thank you for your support and cooperation.
Visit the websites of our parishes for information about future Mass times.

Holy Family and St. Irene Parishes Concord, MA | Carlisle, MA
PASTOR’S COLUMN While the declining number of Covid-19 cases in Massachusetts has brought some relief, over-riding e6ects of the virus continue to be acknowledged. This is particularly recognized for those whose employment situations have been altered or lost altogether.
In the early weeks of the pandemic, the federal government passed legislation providing a Payroll Protection Plan (PPP) to help curtail the great number of people applying for unemployment assistance. This plan was extended to non-profits. By taking advantage of the PPP, Holy Family and St. Irene Parishes have been able to compensate employees over the past months at the levels to which they were accustomed before the pandemic period came upon us. Salaries, wages, and benefits were paid in full even if it was not possible for sta6 members to fulfill their work hours on site. Unfortunately, the government funds our parishes received have now been exhausted.
While parishioners continue to make o6ertory donations and monetary gifts, the monies received for operation and maintenance expenses in both parishes fall below what has been the norm. With limited funds available in the savings accounts of both parishes and given the need to plan reasonably and fiscally for the next six months or more, it has become necessary to make sta6 changes in both parishes.
The following sta6 members have been a6ected:
James Barkovic – the Music Director’s position in Holy Family Parish has been temporarily eliminated. Jim will no longer be a salaried employee; however, he will be available to receive compensation on a per service basis.
Cypriana Coelho - the Music Director’s position in St. Irene’s Parish has been temporarily eliminated. Cypriana will no longer be a salaried employee; however, she will be available to receive compensation on a per service basis.
Donna Dutton – the Rectory Cook’s position in St. Irene’s Parish has been eliminated.
Eileen Faber – the Religious Education Coordinator’s position in St. Irene’s Parish has been eliminated. The Boston Archdiocese has developed resources for a virtual faith formation program for parishes. Jaye Russo will serve as the Religious Education Director for Holy Family and St. Irene’s Parishes. She will utilize the virtual resources provided by the archdiocese, along with supplemental materials developed to meet the needs of our parishes.
Elizabeth Woodard – the Pastoral Associate’s position in Holy Family Parish has been eliminated.
The above personnel were o6ered the opportunity to receive information concerning the assistance available to them given their change in employment. The Archdiocesan Department of Human Resources provided details concerning the benefits for which they are eligible given that their employment status has changed resulting from the pandemic.
As I am sure you realize, making these sta6 changes has been di8cult. I remain grateful to those a6ected by the change in their employment for their gracious understanding of the situation being faced by our parishes. I remain hopeful that no additional sta6 reductions will be necessary. God bless… Fr. Frank
IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM CARDINAL SEÁN

DYNAMIC CATHOLIC INITIATIVES As we continue to face restrictions for in-person faith formation, Holy Family and St. Irene's are blessed to be "Dynamic Parishes," receiving material to help us deepen our relationships with God at home and virtually. Tony once again invites us all to DREAM of what can be for ourselves and our parishes, but in context of this unprecedented time we’re living in. If you were not able to attend the original Dream Event (or even if you did attend, but never wrote down your dreams), please take advantage of this virtual Dream Event video and start dreaming of what God has in store for you! Here’s the link: https://tinyurl.com/unleashyour
Rediscover Jesus email program is a 40-day initiative in which parishioners are sent daily videos via email. Parishioners are welcome to sign up after July 13, but they will conclude the program on a later date (sign-ups are on a rolling basis). Sign up at DynamicCatholic.com/RJcccatholic in Spanish or English. Before watching, download the Dream Worksheet to record your dreams prompted during the event.
Books are be available at the parish o8ce for pickup.

First holy communion 2020
news and announcements Fifteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time
Before Covid-19 introduced an unexpected change in the way we worship together, the Boston Archdiocese had made plans to observe a special "Year of the Eucharist.” It was to begin on Holy Thursday – the day we commemorate Christ's institution of this Most Blessed Sacrament. However, for the first time anyone could recall, most Catholics were not able to receive communion on that special day given pandemic restrictions. But, God's providence continues to make a way for us. Last weekend, on the Feast of Corpus Christi, parishes throughout the archdiocese began the observance of the “Year of the Eucharist.” While celebrating the "Year of the Eucharist" at this time may still feel decidedly bittersweet given that many people remain unable to receive the Body of Christ at Mass. We celebrate that the gift of the Eucharist is waiting for us and cannot be defeated by any pandemic. We celebrate that the Eucharist continues to nourish us spiritually and physically, even as we discover together what is being called a “new normal.” Please join us in observing the "Year of the Eucharist.” For additional information and resources, go to bostoncatholic.org/yearoftheeucharist.
