Our Parish Mission - “Finding Inner Peace” - is only a week away!! Two deacons from Savannah, Georgia will be here to lead us in prayer and discussion on
November 11-12 at Masses and Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday evening, Nov. 12-14 from 7:00-8:30 pm.
What is a mission? As we have been announcing the past several weeks, Deacons Robert and Eddie are here next week to lead our mission. The word mission brings back images of a “Tent
Revival” or a “Billy Graham Crusade.” These were opportunities for people to take a good look at their faith and come to appreciate why they believed what they believed. For those who came to the tent or meeting place, it was a chance to nurture their relationship with God and deepen their bond with their fellow believers. Well, we no longer put up tents or rent auditoriums, but the agenda and, hopefully,
the results will be the same. Like the circuit riders of old, Robert and Eddie will remind us of many of the truths of our faith, but they will explain them in a new and thought-provoking way. While these ‘preachers’ will only be here 4 days, their words (God’s Word) should continue to impact our faith
community long after the two of them have moved on to their next mission. In fact, the only ones who won’t benefit from this mission are those who won’t be gathered “in His name.” What could you possi-bly be doing the evenings of 12-14 November that is more important than nurturing and strengthening
your faith? Especially when Jesus, who will be there with us, guarantees to make it happen!

RCIA (Becoming Catholic) — a new team is forming! Weekly Thurs-
day sessions, for unbaptized and those baptized in another faith tradi-
tion, will begin on Thursday, Nov. 9th, 7:00PM, at the Sts. Peter and
Paul Center. Enter from the parking lot, thru the door marked RCIA;

HSCS invites Veteran and Military members to a special Mass on
Friday, November 10th to honor those in service to our country, with
a special nod to Veterans for Veterans day. Reception will be held at
1:30 pm at the school with presentations from 3rd-5th grade stu-

Vicariate Council of Catholic Women will have a meeting on Monday
Nov. 6, 10 am in the RCIA room at Sts. Peter and Paul Center, 200 44th
St S. Agenda includes upcoming elections and items from the DCCW
convention in Billings. All parish women are invited to attend.
Holy Spirit PCCW will meet Monday November 13, at 1 pm in the par-
ish conference room. Agenda items include the recent Harvest Dinner
and our Christmas luncheon. Joan Edgar will bring dessert and Therese
Griffith will provide a door prize and the prayer. All parish women are

Training opportunity for Family Promise: Monday November 13, 6:30
pm at New Hope Lutheran Church, 3125 5th Ave S. (Use middle office
door on 5th Ave. S.)
Great Falls Central will hold its next Discovery Day on No-
vember 21st. Discovery Day is an opportunity for current 8th
graders to experience high school at Central for a day. Students
will visit classes in action, meet current Central students, and
participate in an assembly to meet representatives from clubs,
athletic teams, and music programs. To reserve your spot, call the Ad-

The Sacred Heart Parish Harvest Dinner will be held Nov.
12, noon-3 pm. in Cascade. The menu includes pork roast
with all the trimmings, desserts and beverages. Cost: free
will offering. Please join us for some fellowship and fun!

Sign ups for Family Promise Monsignor House are
after all Masses this weekend. Please feel free to
come to the back of the church and talk with a volun-
teer about how you can be of help as we prepare to
host November 19-26. “WE strive to be the Lord’s presence on
earth by welcoming and ministering to all people with compassion
and hope.” (3rd statement in the Holy Spirit Catholic Parish Mis-
sion Statement).
The Monsignor House will be open this week on Tuesday, Novem-

Jesus gave His life to serve, not to be served. Putting other’s needs
before our own needs is a sign of becoming a mature disciple, of
following Jesus’ example. Humility is really a sign of a strength.
By putting other’s needs first we declare to the world that we are
putting our complete trust in God. When we align our thoughts and
actions with God’s plan for us, the result is Joy and Peace.

Liturgical Bits and Bytes ~ Mass For the People: Every
Sunday and holy day a pastor celebrates one Mass for the peo-
ple entrusted to his care (canon 534). If the pastor is responsible
for more than one parish on Sundays and holydays, he may
celebrate just one Mass for the intentions of all those people. In
Latin, this Mass is called the missa pro populo.
Holy Spirit publishes the requested intentions in the bulletin
for Masses throughout the week. But each weekend one of the
Sunday Masses will be designated for this special purpose. It
carries a title “for the parishioners” . The priest and parish re-
ceive no offering for this Mass. It is part of the pastor’s respon-
sibilities to the parish.
The Mass “for the people” is not required on other days, even
though Mass may be well attended. Ash Wednesday and
Thanksgiving Day, for example, are not holydays of obligation. Other Mass intentions may be accepted on those days.
This custom reminds the parish community of several values.
The pastor has spiritual care for his flock, which includes pray-
ing for them and their intentions. The people can see that their
priest is responding when they ask him to pray for their con-
cerns. Sundays and holydays are honored as the special days on
