Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time— 6 October 2013
Dear Friends, First of all my apologies to those people I wrote to last week. I sent out the letters without signing them. Work is well under way now on creating a new Kitchen in our Parish hall. This is stage one of our Parish Project for Growing in faith. This phase should be completed within the next 3 weeks. I thought it might be helpful for you all to see what is going on regularly in our Parish Hall. Yours devotedly, Canon Pat Browne Parish Priest

In this Year of Faith - Why I am Catholic
This week’s Holy Apostles’ Parishioner Story:
Why I am a Christian? May be it is a hard question to answer in just
one , two or three articles because it a question that include all the
whole life and Christ Jesus is the whole life ,so can anyone summarize
life in one article, I think it is impossible task to do.
Maybe someone will think that a person is a Christian because he was
born in a Christian family ,of course that is a great privilege to have
and how happy the one might be ,just like Isaac when born of Abraham
and Sarah, wouldn’t he be proud of being the son of Abraham .The
same goes for Jacob as his grandfather is Abraham.
We also must be proud of
being born Christian, but
here the word of God opens
our hearts to make us
realise the very important
truth , to become a
Christian Christ himself
chose us to be. As it is
written” Thus he chose us in
Christ before the world was
made to be holy and
faultless before him in love, “ From this my heart leaps for joy feeling
that I am a chosen person by God. Thus we must thank God all the
time ,day and night as it is written in another place “But we must
always thank God for you, brothers whom the Lord loves, because God
chose you from the beginning to be saved by the Spirit who makes us
holy and by faith in the truth”.
We read that Mosses lived for 120 years and before his death and as
he was blessing the tribes of Israel he said “No one is like the God of
Jeshurun: he rides the heavens to your rescue, rides the clouds in his
majesty”, and today like Mosses I say to my heart , mind and soul and
cry to the whole world no one like the Christ ”
During the Year of Faith, a parishioner each week will hopefully share their faith journey. It is good for us to hear about one and other’s experience. Each submission should be 400-500 words and will be published anonymously. Please send yours to Fr Pat or Judy.
