Mercer County: ChildLaw preparing a bulletin insert for local area churches to promote Blue Sunday

Ongoing Events throughout the month:

Grant County will have the National Honors Society of PHS place pinwheels and a banner in the center of town; discuss Child Abuse Prevention Month at the Grant County Family Issues Taskforce and write an article for the newspaper.

Hardy County will distribute pinwheels in Hardy, Grant and Hampshire Counties, plant pinwheel gardens around town and in private housing areas, display banners and pinwheels in downtown Romney, create a window display at Hardy county chamber of commerce, and write a 6-week spread of newspaper articles on the signs and symptoms of child abuse.

Kanawha County will plant pinwheel gardens in the eastern and northern parts of the county; the pinwheel garden in Clendenin will be planted at the Town Hall with the Mayor leading and will include families that attend the Parents as Teachers program to provide information about the importance of parent and child interaction and community resources.

Mercer County Childlaw will educate the public about child abuse/neglect and encourage everyone to wear blue on Fridays throughout the entire month to raise awareness.

Mineral County schools will have pinwheel gardens displayed throughout the entire month; all school personnel were invited to participate in Wear Blue Fridays but especially April 5th. Local coffee house and community hub will feature a drink called Blue Ribbon, and their entire business is decorated with pinwheels, ribbons and more; they will use their social media platform to inform and educate the community but also to challenge other local businesses to get involved. (March 31st kick off); local bakery sale will feature CASA cookies all month long.

Mingo County will plant pinwheel gardens at various times throughout the month. Monroe County will plant pinwheel gardens throughout the county and raise awareness through social media and

weekly news articles. Ohio County will host a Carry-On Campaign for children in foster care at 4 drop-off locations all month long (this is a

drive for luggage, bags, hygiene items, etc); also raising awareness with Pinwheels for Prevention throughout the month. Pleasants County will plant pinwheel gardens throughout the entire county on 3/31/19. Preston County will plant pinwheel gardens around the county beginning the first week in April and write a news article

on Child Abuse Prevention Month for the local paper. Taylor County Gallery 62, a local arts gallery, will host an opening for "What were you wearing" starting April 5 and will

run for 6 weeks; also child abuse prevention vases and gardens will be distributed on or before April 1st.
