ATTENDANCE&POLICIES&!Much!importance!is!assigned!to!regular!attendance!at!Grace!M.!Davis!High!School.!In!addition!to!the!fact!that!a!student!who!is!frequently!absent!cannot!obtain!the!maximum!benefit!from!a!class,!state!law!requires!that!students!must!attend!school!until!they!reach!the!age!of!18!years,!or!until!they!have!earned!a!high!school!diploma!or!its!equivalent.!

!School&Responsibilities&•! Each!teacher!takes!attendance!daily,!each!period,!throughout!the!year.! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

•! The!attendance!office!records!absences!and!makes!and!receives!calls!from!parents!regarding!these!absences.! ! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

!Parent&Responsibilities&•! Encourage!and!insist!on!regular!attendance!by!the!student!in!every!way!possible.!

PHYSICAL&EDUCATION&DRESS&REQUIREMENTS&!Students!enjoy!the!P.E.!activities!available!at!Grace!M.!Davis!High!School,!and!find!them!a!welcome! variation! from! classroom! studies.! ! We! stress! personal! fitness! and! lifeSlong!physical!activities.!!!!1.! All!students!are!expected!to!provide!neat!and!clean!gym!clothes!at!the!beginning!of!each!

week.!

2.! All!students!are!expected!to!wear!gym!clothes!for!all!activity!classes,!unless!other!!!arrangements!are!specified.!

3.! Recommended!dress!for!physical!education!classes!will!consist!of!the!following!items:!

a.! TrunkStype!gym!shorts!(the!school!color!is!recommended)!

b.! A!standard!white!crew!TSshirt!with!sleeves.!

c.! White!athletic!socks!(stripes!are!permissible).!

d.! Tennis!shoes!with!a!lace!or!VelcroStype!closing!are!necessary.!Sandals,!slipSons,!heels,!or!shoes!with!buckles!are!not!allowed!(wide,!flat!rubberSsoled!tennis!shoes!are!recommended).!

e.! Sweat!suits!are!recommended!during!cold!weather!(standard!solid!color!cotton!blend!is!preferable).!

f.! Leotards!and!tights!may!be!used!for!dance!and!gymnastic!classes.!

4.! All!physical!education!clothing!must!be!permanently!marked!for!identification!(student’s!last!name!and!first!initial).!The!name!should!be!written!below!the!left!shoulder!on!all!TSshirts!and!sweatshirts.!Leotards!should!be!marked!on!the!inside.!The!name!should!be!written!on!the!middle!of!the!left!thigh!when!using!shorts,!sweat!pants,!and!tights.!

5.!!!Students!will!not!be!allowed!to!participate!in!a!physical!education!class!if!they!are!not!properly!dressed.!
