What is Homeostasis?

• The ability to maintain constant internal physical and chemical conditions

• All living things must do this to survive.

What are some examples of homeostasis maintenance in humans?

• Temperature Regulation• Blood sugar regulation• Oxygen level regulation• Waste removal

What are some things organisms use to maintain homeostasis?

• Cell Specialization– Muscle cells, bone cells, nerve cells, etc.

• Organ specialization– Stomach, heart, lungs etc.

• System specialization– Digestive system, Circulatory system, Muscular

system, Nervous system etc.

• Maintaining Homeostasis in a multicellular organism (such as a human) requires coordination between all the body systems!
