Academics & Activities

Students will participate in exploratory activi-

ties that are geared to increase their interest

in and awareness of careers in the sciences.

Through collaborative and engaging activity,

participants will develop a greater apprecia-

tion for S.T.E.M. related studies.

(Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics)

Preparation & Performance

An awareness of how our lives are impacted by sci-

ence contributes to an understanding that science is

not limited to laboratories. It can increase both inter-

est and willingness to engage in fields of study that

currently have few minority participants.

Learning

Learning is an on-going

process. During the A+

program, participants will

develop an appreciation

for S.T.E.M. related learn-

ing experiences and de-

velop greater connections

between S.T.E.M. fields

and everyday living.

Understanding

By gaining hands-on experience of the pervasiveness of the sciences, partici-

pants can develop additional confidence in pursuing scientific experiences.

Future research and job opportunities for S.T.E.M. graduates are multiplying

and our program seeks to inspire participants with an understanding of the

research and career options that lay ahead.

Service

One of the undergirding

values of the A+ program

is a sense of service. The

experiences provided

through our program are

not intended for partici-

pants to hoard to them-

selves. We wish to en-

courage participants that

their learning and aspira-

tions are most valuable

through service to others.

An academically engaging summer program designed for 8th to 12th graders seeking an adventurous and exciting

summer experience. The A+ SUMMER PROGRAM is a residential program sponsored by the

Hampton University Honors College.
