We Have Our Old Time Slot Back!

Returning to a “Winning Formula” It is no secret that the change from the classic music format that has been loved by Hour of Power viewers for decades was unpopular with the vast majority of our supporters.

It almost seemed as if God took a step back while the Crystal Cathedral and Hour of Power dealt with a raft of painful problems. All of the international offices reported difficulties as an almost palpable wave of depression affected staff and a serious drop in finances did not help the situation. The good news is that God remains faithful and true to His word and prayers have been answered.

John Charles is steering the Ministry on a solid course, Don Neuen has returned on a voluntary basis and is rebuilding the choir, the beautiful Hazel Wright Organ is being played for the first time in nearly a year and many of the congregation who left have returned.

Another positive move was the appointment of Bobby Schuller, Dr. Schuller’s grandson, as Hour of Power Pastor (Read more on reverse).

We are grateful and encouraged by the numerous supportive letters and emails we have received at the from viewers who have expressed their absolute delight at the return to the much loved format. Thank you!

We were very unhappy earlier this year when we lost our 7:30 Hour of Power time slot and had to move the programme to 7am.

The Ministry has had a rough ride of late but clearly God has not left us. In the last month there have been many amazing answers to prayer and we are extremely pleased and thankful to report that Prime TV recently approached us, seemingly out of the blue, and offered us the 7:30 timeslot!

Many supporters and viewers have contacted us about their unhappiness over the 7am start which was the only time slot available to us and we spent much time in prayer over that and other difficult issues.

Join us as we give thanks to God for everything He is doing for the Ministry both here and at Garden Grove.

The decision was taken after much careful deliberation and prayer with a view to rebuilding the Ministry while maintaining the wonderful ideals Dr Schuller set when he started out.

Bobby is a graduate of Oral Roberts University with a Master of Divinity Degree from Fuller Theological Seminary and has been pastoring The Tree of Life Community Church which is also situated in Orange County. He has had a lot of involvement at Garden Grove, running Crystal Cathedral's Gathering Community Ministry from 2004 to 2009 when he left to begin his own journey.

In a recent interview, Bobby told Dr Wilkes "I really love the Hour of Power, and one of the things that I hope for is that my kids and even my grandkids will be able to experience the Hour of Power. I think about my grandpa's legacy and how he changed the church; how he altered the way we view ministry and how this ministry has saved so many lives.”

Lily Ty is the owner of that bright, friendly voice that answered the phone for the past three years.

Sadly Lily has left Hour of Power to pursue “greener pastures”. She will be sorely missed and we wish her well in her future endeavours!
