The Department of Housing and Residence Education graduate staff positions focus on a specialized content area (on-campus apartment including utilities provided). These content areas are:

CONDUCT AND COMMUNITY STANDARDS GRADUATE LEVEL RESPONSIBILITIES → Investigate, adjudicate, and resolve residential disciplinary and conflict issues in accordance with conduct policy

and procedure

→ Assist in staff training of the conduct process, conflict coaching and fire safety guidelines/procedures.

→ Manage reports through conduct system and disseminate as directed.

→ Maintain 20 office hours a week in the Residence Life main office

→ Be a contributing member of a staff team

STUDENT LEADERSHIP GRADUATE LEVEL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES → Advise/Assist in advising a Department of Housing student organization. Provide support and information to the

executive board and members of the organization.

→ 20 hour week expectation with night, weekend, weekday hours and in the office of Student Learning and Engagement

→ Be a contributing member of a staff team

→ Living Learning Graduate Level Position Responsibilities

→ Coordinate residential curriculum for 6-7 living learning communities.

→ Provide support for the advisor-in-residence program.

→ Collaborate to support marketing for living-learning communities.

→ Attend stakeholder meetings

→ Be a contributing member of a staff team

HIRING & TRAINING GRADUATE LEVEL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES → Assist with hiring process for a quality and diverse student staff.

→ Collaborate to support marketing for student staff recruitment.

→ Co-lead the student staff training development experience towards providing a comprehensive year round training experience.

→ Develop and implement training for student staff.

GRADUATE LEVEL POSITIONS

RESPONSIBILITIES: ALL POSITIONS → Communicate with full time staff, student staff, and students in a professional and timely manner.

→ Attend/Lead a combination of staff meetings, one-on-one meetings with supervisor, stakeholder meetings and student organization meetings.

→ Follow Housing protocols

ADVERTISED SALARY:Housing Graduate Staff are currently paid a contract rate of $9,215 paid $485.00 bi-weekly over 19 pay periods (fall and spring semesters combined) based on 9.5 months of work, 20 hours per week from approximately July 29 1st to May 1st.

In addition to salary, a $300.00 per semester (fall and spring only) declining balance for meal plan is provided. An on-campus apartment, fully furnished with all utilities, is provided (valued at approx. $10,000).

Remuneration does not include tuition. Out-of-state fee waivers are sometimes available, but are NOT guaranteed (see information on our employment website).

QUALIFICATIONSThe abilities and qualities essential to this position are:

→ Must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student in good standing as defined by the University or specific college at the time of actual employment.

→ Must be able to have a 20 hr FTE available

→ Be able to work effectively with the University population (staff, students, parents, etc.).

→ Demonstrate a sense of job responsibility and maturity.

→ Show evidence of leadership skills.

→ Show evidence of good time management skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: → Residence life, student leadership or related experience as an undergraduate

→ Seeking a graduate degree in related field; student personnel, leadership studies, administration in higher education, counselor education and/or law school.
