EDUCATION & COMMUNITY PROGRAMSImpacting Greater Houston Through Live Orchestral MusicWith more than 200 performances and events in nearly 90 venues across the city, the Houston Symphony’s Education and Community Programs impact the lives of more than 76,000 students and children in the Houston area and provide access for more than 100,000 Houstonians free of charge.

The orchestra brings powerful, entertaining and educational experiences to our city’s churches, synagogues, schools, private homes, social service providers, community facilities, parks, senior centers, classrooms, libraries, hospitals, day care centers, cathedrals, museums and art galleries. We are not only the Houston Symphony, we are Houston’s Symphony – all 656 square miles, and then some.

Programs are designed to serve six core constituencies: schools, families, the community at large, educators, aspiring young musicians and music lovers wanting to learn more; and fall into four general categories:

∙ Curriculum-based programs for school children

∙ Multi-generational presentations for families

∙ Access opportunities for the whole community

∙ Continuing education for music lovers, music makers and teachers of music

Activities include concerts, recitals, master classes, student competitions, annual concerts with local youth orchestras, small ensemble performances, and lectures.

To learn more, contact: (713) 238-1447

To find out how to support these programs, contact David Chambers, Chief Development Officer at (713) 337-8525 or [email protected].
